I've never been excited about a fighting game.
I played Soul Cal II back in the days when I worked at an arcade and could free credit it all day. I even Bought Soul Cal II on a whim and had a lot of fun with it at home, but that was about as far as it went.
Faye and I played a demo at Hastings...SCIII is setting the new bar.
Tobal pioneered 3d fighting game worlds, Tekken and Virtua Fighter added customizable character features (basically colors and accessories), but Soul Cal goes crazy, letting you customize a character on Tony Hawk liek proportions. Start with sex, (M/F) class (I one for each fighting style - but maybe secret ones like Link/Heihachi/Spawn), then get down to business - customizing over 12 areas with amzingly cool looking items that you can adjust the color through a full 256(more?) color pallette. In about 20 minutes Faye made one cool looking ninja that was 100% his own. Add that to the otehr features on teh demo, an RTS style adventure mode, 4 types of uniqe battle types that ranged from striking your opponent for cash (passe' you say?), to where even the lisghtest touch sends them sprawling across the arena, into walls that the rebound off of (thats new), to fighting giatn statues that looked to be something like 10 stories high.
SCIII is going to be an amazing game. End quote. |

Yeah, I'm with Dai on this one. Obviously considering I have is reserved and only have like 5 bucks left to pay on it. Soul Calibur was always one of my favorite 3d fighters, but he's right. This is gonna be like a whole different game. From what I have read, you are gonna have to unlock a lot of the character creation stuff. You only start with 6 classes, and I want to say there are 15 total. Needless to say I am very excited, all of you fans of the previous SC's will want to pick this up. |

I have been playing the demo a bit and I will say it's nice. I still don't put it with VF but it's clearly Namco's premiere fighting franchise IMO. Too bad the guy I made got his ass whipped badly. I guess I'll go another direction when I get the game. Of course it's always been all about Asteroth anyway. |

Soul Calibur III is definately pushing the bar. I can't wait to get my hands on Chronicle of the Sword mode. Basically it's a mixup of RTS where battles are one on one fights. Playing through this mode is what unlocks new weapon/movesets and additional items. Plus there's like 45 original characters. That's pretty nice if you ask me.
I can't wait to try and play competively.

Let me be the first to same that this game is awsome.
Me and my hall mates have been playing it for four days straight and aren't even close to beating it.
Every character has their individual story line,
And they have a campaign mode for characters you create.
It has an amazing level of depth for a fighting game.
And the new characters are way cool. |

I think I just soiled myself...
and I don't really mind. I'd have to sell my son to get this game and I just couldn't do it... well, no I couldn't. But... NO! Maybe I could rent him out to baby hungry post menopausal women! YEAH!!!!
SCIII here I come! |
