"Nekkei News inquired 1000 people in Japan, on what they are planning to purchase in the upcoming Christmas holidays, 12.9% said they plan to buy new console system(s), 33% of which are planning to purchase a PSP. Here are the breakdowns:
What new console system are you planning to buy?
1. PSP - 33%
2. Nintendo DS - 22.5%
3. PlayStation 2 - 20.2%
4. GameBoy Micro - 11.6%
5. Xbox 360 - 10.1%"
The 360 is already dead in Japan if people won't even consider it as an XMas buy and it's the "new, hot thing". More people want a GB Micro (utter crap) than the 360. Bill Gates, are you listening? Drop the damn price! |

The graphics may be good, but it seems the games are still lacking. Nice try, but in the end MS will lose.

Actually, they do ^^ They see it for what it is, though--a commercial holiday.
They don't really go for Halloween, though. Although Halloween's picked up in Europe. |

Where are you getting that info from.
Actually a Sony Exec said the system would run between 300 and 400. The story for which has now been retracted b/c he wasn't supposed to discuss it.
The estimated cost of making a PS3 was $496. I expect a $400 price tag.
Sony does this with every system they have released. There were rumors that the PSP would be close to $500. Oh look... it's $250. Actually it's less than $200 in Japan for the system alone.
This is a marketing technique Sony always uses. They make it sound like it will be hella expensive then turn around and say what it is and everyone thinks, whow that's a lot cheaper than I thought. What a deal.
For the record. I KNEW that the 360 would be $400. However, I also think it is a good price.
Now the accessories... That's a different story. |

I definitely agree one the whole pricing thing. The system for $400 is a good deal (since it was revealed they lost about $127 per system...and if my memory serves me right, that doesn't include the money they lose from accesories that come with it). But the accesories themselves....GOOD LORD!
Yeah...screw buying extra controllers. If people want to play, they bring their own if they own the system. And thank God I got a premium system...cause that memory card isn't worth the money for its size. |
