Exactly. As much as Joe Stalin killed in his 'purges' he also really helped boost the russian economy. Not to say that he should be considered a saint |

Yeah, while Stalin was a dictator, and should not be considered a saint, he should not be knocked because he was in fact very intelligent, and a lot of the things he did made sense. I believe the same goes for Lenin. The story of the rise and fall of Soviet Communism is a very interesting one, I learned all about it in my history class last year. There are a lot of things to be learned from it. |

See, the thing about him boosting the economy is that he did it through taking all the food for his people and selling it, starving them. And then he blamed the starvation on the "rich peasents" which gave him a perfect excuse to start killing people he didn't like, which included most of the army's top brass, which, in retrospect, was a very stupid thing because when WWII broke out that meant his men were getting slaughtered by the Germans.
Saint? FAR FAR from it, I think. I know he boosted the Heavy Industry of Russia 400%, but he killed MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS of people, directly from his actions. Not a good deal, as far as I'm concerned.
