Hello all.

As some of you know, we have been struggling a little bit recently with spam accounts. Bots that register usernames just so that they can put a web address to try to get you to go to.

Even though I have made it so that the web address doesn't show up in the registration process, we have still been seeing accounts pop up. Mainly from one guy. Unfortunately, his bot dodges our banning process.

So where am I going with this?
This has not been a problem with normal phpBB boards for a while. It was updated back with version 2.0.11 of the board. However we can't just do easy upgrades since we have so much custom code. I have to manually update the code to account for the changes.

Well I finally got fed up with it. I have just implemented the registration confirmation code that was put in phpBB in version 2.0.11.

This was quite a change... so what I would like from you guys is just keep an eye out for anything on the board that looks unusual and report it here.

i hate bots not only in games but on sites abd comunities too, because it takes up bandwidth. One reason i don't get on gaia so much.

Shino-sensei! I have just found a spamm account going through the site, by the name of bigtits. It started a topic in the general forum, I'd advise to get rid of it quickly.
