First: For those that thing the arena game isn't real football...
Go here,
Click the "256" next to the TV icon in the first header.
That's the top 10 plays. Especially watch the last two. Griesen to Jackson where Jackson makes a 1 handed catch while going over the wall in the endzone for the score. And McPherson throwing the ball into the wall and the WR running into it full speed only to BOUNCE into the endzone for the score!
Not many people give a crap, but I know there are at least 3 of us on this board that DO!
So, we are 2 weeks into the season and it's already interesting. This give you an idea of how balanced this sport really is.
Out of 19 teams, there are only 3 teams that are 2-0. Which of course means there are three teams that are 0-2. Everyone else is 1-1. There are two teams that have played only 1 game thanks to bye weeks.
The three 2-0 teams are...
Dallas Desperados
Georgia Force (W00t!)
Utah Blaze.
The Utah Blaze are in only their second season.
Dallas is a long time AFL team and always seems to be very powerful.
Georgia went to the Arena bowl in 2005 only to come up short in the playoffs last year after a medeocer 8-8 season.
There is one new item this year about the AFL. I'm honestly not to thrilled about it. Free substitutions are now allowed. Which means that players no longer have to play both ways. One of the big things about the AFL that made it so great was the Ironman aspect. We'll see how that change affects the game in the long run.
This week the Force go to Tampa Bay, to face the Storm which is one of the 0-2 teams. Hopefully the Force will make them 0-3. Tampa's QB from last year, Stafford, is now in Orlando. So far the loss of him has showed a sure lack of explosivness on the offensive side of the ball.
Another great thing for the AFL this year is support from ESPN, who are showing a game a week every week of the season on ESPN2... except next week. But they are making up for the week 3 missing game with 2 in week 4.
They are also televising all of the play off games on ESPN and ESPN2! The Arena Bowl, however, will remain on ABC in July. |

Whee! We're having a good start this season. Here's to hoping we make it to the playoffs again this year, and maybe to the bowl.
...though, I'm still a bit sad that Elliot isn't on the team anymore. The game I went to last year he was -spectacular- and tied up with Lee for my favourite player. We heard his name nearly as much as Jackson, and that's saying something. xD |

That catch that Jackson made was amazing...it happened like 10 feet in front of me. I made sure the ref saw it. |

Man... What a game Saturday night.
A game that lasted until literally the last seconds against San Jose! 64-62!
This season is turning out to be incredibly interesting. 3 teams are still undefeated.
Georgia 4-0
Philly 3-0
Dallas 3-0
Dallas plays tonight against a really good Orlando team.
Only one team hasn't won a game and it is the formerly dominant Tampa Bay.
And the biggest surprise to me...
The Force Quarterback!
Chris Griesen leads the league in TDs, completion %, AND QB rating with a freain' 135!
Passing | Att | Comp | Comp% | Yds | TD | Int | Rating | Greisen, Chris GEO | 122 | 93 | 76.2 | 1174 | 30 | 3 | 135 |
If you haven't watched the AFL before, and you love football...
Watch the game tonight! It's on ESPN2! This is a possible play off preview game. It should be great! Although, not as great as what I saw on Saturday. |

What time is it on? And which channel is ESPN2? I want to watch, but I may be at school, or, my parents may have something else they want to watch. Darn sharing TVs. The one in my room doesn't get cable or whatever. |

7 is awesome. I'll catch the beginning anyhow, as if I remember correctly there's -nothing- on at seven anyhow.
But I won't be able to watch the whole thing. I doubt my parents can last longer than an hour watching it, and I'm sure there's something else they watch Mondays at 8 anyhow. xD |

Did you guys see me on the big screen (One of my friends said I was also on T.V. sooo)? Me and my sign was on the big screen. It said:
"Spade The Sabercats!"
We should have spaded the refs after they almost blew the game for us. I mean what was up with letting San Jose get two kicks? That was so bad I hope someone lost their job over it.
Chris Griesen has blown my mind. I mean I'm sure it helps that he has the top three WRs in the country on his team but still. You'd never know he was a back up by the way he's acting. He's acting like a seasoned vet out there or something. I'm impressed. |

Seriously... the Refs F'ed that one up! But in the end, the good guy won!
And I wouldn't say they have the top 3 WRs in the country... but I would definitely say they are the best Trio on the field. No doubt.
Greisen is the top QB and Jackson is the top WR after this game.
Troy is on the WR list also.
The only list we don't have someone in the top 10 is kicking... but since we always score touchdowns... we don't kick enough field goals to get our kicker on that list. LOL! |

...and there is the fact that the kicker last year sucked horribly, and I haven't seen any signs that the one we have this year is much better. Silly kickers. |
