*nods to SA* I absolutely -hate- it when movies are marketed as something they're not. It's not 'cool' or 'funny' or a 'neat twist' it's annoying. When I went and saw "The Village" expecting something scary, I was -pissed- when it turned out to be what it was. Not that it was a bad movie, but I can't consider it good because it wasn't what they tried to make it out to be.
Though, this isn't nearly so much of a leap, and chances are that they -will- play up the superhero aspect in the movie, because that's what people will want to see. |

It's also an anti-superhero movie which is a great break-stride in the current market!

Nice effects shooting. Costumes look appropriate. Am still unsure as to whether the story will get appropriate treatment, but you can't really get that from a 2 minute trailer. |

But alas, Nite Owl is supposed to be in his thirties/forties and out of shape, since the Keene Act had put him out of work for quite some time.
On the trailer - Holy sh*t....that looks BEAUTIFUL! I wanna see!
EDIT: May I also comment on the trailer's choice of music - AWESOME! |

Yes - hopefully it will rid me of any memories to the previous superhero movie it was attached to! |

I assume that this was in response to my comments about not being a particular fan of Alan Moore, but wanting to read/see this. To be honest, I'm somewhat psyched to actually read the comic due to the hype that it's gotten, but like I said before, I'm still a little hesitant. I loved the first League of Extraordinary Gentleman. The second was ok, but not as good, and the most recent one was terrible, as far as I was concerned. And, despite everyone else's opinion, I really had a hard time with V for Vendetta. I just couldn't get into it, found that it dragged on, and had a hard time being able to decipher which character was which due to the seemingly archaic artwork.
So yeah, long story short...my experience with Moore has been less than stellar, so I'm hoping that I'm pleasantly surprised by this. |

Absolutely! I first got into this comic when I lost the glossy eyed naivety over superheroes. I was really pissed off with Marvel that they killed someone off and then 2 issues later they were back to life with only a sad story to tell. So I resigned all my comics to "collectors items" and carried on. Later I found Matt Wagner! *MAN-SWOON* His Grendel books were and still are some of my favorite stories. Then in a comic-conversation a friend told me about 'Watchmen' and let me read an issue. F-ing A! This comic had all the scummiest traits you love in villians but it was the heroes to which they belonged!
It was like a storytellers epiphany! Flawed, f'd up heroes!
Please Ming! give 'The Watchmen' a chance. |

I've been leaving the book under his pillow at night...hoping the story leaks out into his head.

I am unsure why, but fore some reason, a no-post-ho like me has to bring this topic back... It came out today!!!1 WHO SAW IT!? Reaps, myself, my lovely wife and a couple other buddies went to the first I-MAX showing of it today! I have been waiting to see this forever, read and re-read the graphic novel eager with anticipation, and today was the day. Watchmen Day! The movie did not disappoint, very true to the source material, sometimes a little too close. *coughmanhattan'sballscough* The fight scenes were exceptionally brutal, more so than 300 I would say. If you read the book, GO SEE THIS MOVIE! If you haven't read the book, GO SEE THIS MOVIE! ...and then read the book.
HAPPY WATCHMEN DAY!!!1 |
