Something Weekend Atlanta 2009: Switching Targets?

ANYWAYS.

Uhm, there seems to be an amount of people considering coming for GenCon in Indianapolis on the weekend of August 13-16. I know that's awfully close to AWA, but I've heard (through the grapevine) of some POers considering attending.

I think enough reason to go is the fact that I'LL BE THERE. Because I live in Indianapolis! There are plenty of non-expensive hotels around here, and I can haul at least 4 of you around in my automobile with squishage. Also, you can often get tickets from Indianapolis to Atlanta for a steal ($100 roundtrip sometimes) OR drive up from Atlanta. I've made the drive many times and it's not bad, not bad at all.

I can also show you all the awesome places to hang out, piano bars, duckpin bowling, concert venues, restuarants, museums, gardens, places to play, in case Gen Con itself is not enough amusement for you. You can also come harass me at my SECOND job where I will serve you tasty Thai food.

Absolutely 'Nari! The whole point of this part of the forum is for locals to toss up their area shindigs!

As for a get together, I'm certainly wanting a reason for a big PO family get together. It always seems like AWA was a good place/time to do it but I gotta say the convention itself isn't why I go, it's really to see all of you guys.

I'm up for a planning committee if you like. We can still shoot for the same time frame and I'll even coordinate group passes to AWA under the PO name for those who want one just in case.

What say you? It's easier for me to help plan (help being operative as I really can't afford -energy, $, time- to shoulder it all myself) if it's a local thing but that certainly can't stop me from making suggestions for out of town stuff.

I do have some out of town trips planned this year. So far it's Orlando in May and the West Coast in the June/July timetable.

I know I'm minority here but I'm due to have a baby Sept 7 so I can't make any plans for this year at all Razz

Maybe next year. And maybe by then we'll LIVE down there *hopehopehopehope*

I have a proposed idea for AWA 2009 if anyone is up for it: how about those of us who are going to AWA meet up the sunday of the con, late evening, and hit chow baby. it is not bad in price for the food load and is only a walk since it is in the mall that the con is also in. hell lets even plan a night to go w/o the con if that is preferred. I just want to at least see the locals again.

So AWA is all of a couple days away. Are there any plans in place? At all?

Is the Thursday night RuSan's run still a given?
Are there any PO meet-ups/meals during the weekend?
Chow Baby sounds good to me for Sunday since its a place everyone can enjoy.

In any case, a heads up before the con would be much appreciated so everyone who's interested can join in.

Nothing has been discussed just yet.

unastrike, PRG and I MIGHT be showing up on Saturday... it has not yet been decided.

I know that Shan is not going this year.
