Holiday slay no christmas pay!

Ok this got on my nerves today, I had to work today on thanksgiving, while my family was about in touscolusa with my aunts and uncles eating turkey and cramberry souce. I was susposed to go in at 5pm which would have been good because we were leaving early this morning to go to my aunts. But the theater decided to pull an asshole move and have me open the damn building! Don't get me wrong I like my job. But I despise missing holidays with family, because you can't make up for those times that you missed. Last christmas, I worked an open till 2am shift, my family had to wait and come get me, and then drive all the way to hunatsvile to have x-mas at my stepsisters. by the time we got there it was 4am and I wanted to spend time with my brothers and sisters and they just tossed the pretns at me and went to bed. It was not a good christmas for me quote inquote at all Plus we don't even get holiday pay or chirstmas bonuses for working holidays. WTF MATE!

So this christmas, I'm working op-5 saturday and sunday so I can have time with my bro and sisters. ^_^

That majorily sucks dude. Holiday hours deserves holiday pay.

I'm lucky cause although I work the holidays, its a family business Dad, Tyler and I all end up working together on the holidays.

That sucks royally man. We get Holiday pay at my work for Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas even though we are closed those days, you just have to work the day before or day after. I also seem to get stuck closing the day before and run around like a chicken with its head cut-off making sure everything gets done and the minions arn't pissing the customers off.

Maybe you should find a different job you like that won't make you work on holidays. If you have a family to spend the holidays with, you have no business working ^^.

wow man i'm really sorry for you but on my bright side I work at Roy Rogers and they're not even open on Thankgiving or Christmas. so um yay me. but hang in there and maybe take Ultrawolfs advice.

senor, i believe that may be illegal of them. If it has a chain and a district manager, you may wanna give em a ring and get the low down on it, since no holiday pay is a very VERY poor thing. The only businesses that do not do that are independantly owned businesses, but they tend to do it anyways.

But yea, take a higher-up look at everything and see if there is a policy the company has (if it is a commercial company) on pay. If it IS a commercial company, then you probably do get a holiday pay of time-and-a-half. If the higherups can't tell you anything, there is always higher places to go.

From what I've learned about movie theaters, the high turnover means they don't have to give their employees what they want. There's always someone willing to take your job if you complain. My brother's theater didn't even give raises.
