Jeeze...I've got a lot of problems, eh?
This is a sucky situation, and I hate it to bits. I dunno what to do though...
My fiance snores, and when he's not snoring, he's breathing heavily. He is asthamatic (?), I'm not sure if thats got anything to do with it.
I really want to be able to share a bed with him the whole night, but it rarely works. I have to make sure I fall asleep first, and make sure I've got a totally empty bladder before bed. Quite often if I wake up to visit the bathroom, I won't be able to fall back asleep. Putting a pillow over my head seems to have lost its effect..^^;
So quite often now, he ends up sleeping on the couch...
Anyone have any similar problems out there? Maybe some suggestions other than pulling the giant stick outta my bum and trying to ignore it? ^^;;; |

There are lots of things he could do to fix his snoring problem. Try those breathe right strips, or maybe if he props his head up more on his pillow. There are medications, too, that you can take. If nothing works, try talking to a doctor, they usually have some really good suggestions for that sort of thingi-- and they can probably help figure out why he's snoring, which'd be a big plus. <3
Shino-sama breathes very loudly, but I can get to sleep with that. It's when he starts snoring (usually allergy or cold related) that I have problems. But, he doesn't do that often, and if I rustle around and half wake him up, I can get to sleep in the few minutes before he starts snoring again. xD |

Gee thanks babe.
Also, he may be propping his head up too much. It can cause a little constriction on the throat that isn't really noticeable while awake b/c your muscles instinctively keep the airway open, but when you go to sleep those muscles relax a little and that could be what does it. |

Supposedly, I snore really badly. As I'm sure some here may be able to attest to. My mom bought me those BreathRight strips things, and I was kinda insulted, so I never used them. But I saw a commercial last night that explains how they work, and I was thinking of giving them a try finally. When I do, I'll let you know what happens.
Also, my uncle is a chronic snorer, and he uses them. Actually, he swears by them, and on top of helping his snoring, they also help him to get a better night's sleep. So my suggestion would be to try those before you do anything else. They could end up being a very cheap solution to the problem. |

Hey! You already knew that, so don't give me that "oh yeah, thanks a lot" attitude! ^^ And it's not like I -really- wake you up. Just sorta nudge you so you stop snoring. You never even notice. I know, 'cause you don't notice when I bump you to stop the alarm either. |

Yeah, definitely try the BreatheRight strips.
Also, he may have a problem called Sleep Apnea. It's when your airway relaxes so much that it restricts your airflow. The lack of air causes you to wake up slightly, reposition yourself, and fall back to sleep. Needless to say, you don't get a good night's sleep. People who have it are generally snorers. It's treated with a Continuous Postitive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine--basically a mask that goes over your face that gives you a continuous supply of air.
My grandmother had sleep apnea, and her snores literally rattled the house. After she was diagnosed and started using the CPAP machine, her snoring got a lot better.
Anywho, if BreatheRight doesn't work and if he doesn't have sleep apnea...maybe try earplugs? I can't think of anything else. |

There are also surgeries that can stop snoring.

This page has a couple of pieces of good information.

Thanks a lot guys ^_^ I'll make sure to pick up some of the BreateRight strips on my next outing.
And Shan...I've tried nudging him when he falls asleep. He does wake up, but falls asleep again waaay too fast.
He did mention that sleep apnea runs in his family as well, but didn't feel that it seems to a problem of his. Dunno if he's got it or not. ^_^ You guys definately have a lot of good suggestions for me, and I thank you! I'll let you all know how it's going later on down the road. <3 |

Ming snores, but I think it's really cute, although I believe I'm the only one who thinks so...My little lumberjack!
Anyways, I can sleep through pretty much anything, so I don't mind it. However, my aunt cannot fall asleep because of my uncle's snoring, so she keeps a fan on all night and that drowns out the noise.
My dad had sleep apnea because he was severly overweight, and he used the machine Satine mentioned. However, he couldn't use the machine a lot because it would dry out his nasal passages and give him a bloody nose. It also was very uncomfortable for him. Plus he had to stay in a sleep clinic for a few days to be tested for it.
Good Luck. |

Just buy high gague earplugs...I can't sleep with heavy breathing going on let alone snoring.
Hell, when I get married there may be two beds in the bedroom cause I don't like people next to me while I sleep.
Which is why like during AWA I'll share a bed but I drag like crap the next day cause I'm awake more than asleep...Unless I got REALLY drunk...Then I sleep like a baby....That talks a lot. |
