Ok i know this is kinda weird.. but i found this little bit from another web site when i was looking around on the net. and i thought it was a neat, different, and intresting point of view to an old myth. .. so i just thougth i'd share ^_^ and see what you guys thought.
i wasnt really sure if i should put this in here or the other section.. if i did put it in the wrong section i apologize. ok here it is.
Unicorns are not mythical creatures, nor are they physical creatures in the way you might think of them. Unicorns are the astral bodies of a special type of person possessed of both a physical manifestation (human) and an astral manifestation as a powerful equine with cloven hooves and a single horn. This horn is the focal point of their magickal power which enables this dual life, and as such is an extremely potent talisman of great magickal energy. That the unicorn shows this horn only in the astral planes does not detract from its potency in the physical.
Unicorns are quite often natural healers, curing ails with a touch of their physical (human) form or by contact with the afflicted's essence in the ethereal or astral planes. It is this very healing magick that many hunters seek, not realizing, often, that unicorns will offer their healing touch to any of pure heart who needs it.
Unicorns are the embodiment of the fiery energies of masculinity balanced with the healing and soothing energies of femininity. That the horn is such a powerful phallic symbol is no wonder, when one considers that unicorn stallions are masculinity-as-it-should-be: strength tempered by wisdom, force tempered by compassion, action tempered by calm, and destructive nature tempered by creative energy.
All unicorns, male or female, have the ability to speak to and commune with a variety of beasts of the fields (quite similar to were-creatures abilities) and tend to be much more in tune with the forces of nature both within and without the physical world in which we live.
If you wish to meet a unicorn in person, look for the man or woman who seems to attract those who are in pain (physical or mental/emotional) and sends them away feeling better without trying. Or, look for the man or woman who seems to understand the songs of coyotes and wolves, the calls of ravens and sparrows, the neighing of horses, the contemplative words of owls, or even the song of the wind through the trees or the call of the river as it races to the ocean. Then look for the slight longing for a far-away place in the eyes, and most likely you have found a living unicorn.
Note: This is my view of what it is to be a unicorn, and there are many unicorns out there, I'm sure, who will disagree with me, (including a few who don't realize they are unicorns yet). |

To be honest, I think most "myths" are real in the sense that SOMETHING was the base of that myth. Look at dragons, for example. So many cultures, seperate from each other, had dragons as part of their mythology. Asian cultures, celtic and other European cultures, and even the Bible had their versions of dragons. The phoenix is another creature that shows up in various cultures, by different names. Whether these are physical entities or astral projections, I do not claim to know, but they are real one way or another.
I also definitely believe in people having astral projections: souls that do not reflect as purely human. If you know anything about reading auras, you can sometimes see it in the aura, even in the physical realm. Also, there are very physical signs that point toward these type of things. The unicorn example above, where they are more sensetive to nature, is a perfect example. |

Indeed there are. One of those other creatures has been kind enough to grace my left shoulder for some time now.
I'm with Kiyomi - myths that cross cultures have to have a grounding in something real somewhere. Whether it's in the developed form that we think of or not is up to interpretation.
And if we take a small glance at the furry culture, it would make sense to me that people may have better identifications with certain animal spirits and can channel those energies effectively. So why not channel the creatures of myth as well? |

Pretty much all the myths are true. The thing is is that people EXPECT them to be myths. So if a unicorn is waltzing around downtown (which they don't) they wouldn't even SEE it, because they don't EXPECT to see it. If you do however, then you may very well see it, although it's not guarnteed. Sometimes you need stronger spirutal energy than most. |

Myths are true only from a certain perspective. What myths do have is some factual grounding that makes them myths rather than tall tales. Much like ghosts, vampires, lycans, sassquatches, dragons, fairies, and all other manners of mythological creatures, there is some basis of fact for them. Dragons might have come about from people finding dinosaur bones in caves, etc.
So personally I perscribe to the Shakespearean quote "There are more things in Heaven and Earth Horatio, then are dreamt of in your philosophy." |

While I'm not sure that I believe in these 'human unicorns' as you put them (unicorns in human bodies, from what I gathered) I most certainly do believe in animal spirit guides in a sense of the word. Though it's difficult to describe how I do that without going into an entire dissertation on my personal religious beliefs, we shall say that many people identify strongly with an animal, and there's a reason for it. ^_^ These animals could, I suppose, be mythological, however, then it becomes more of a psychological thing than a physical thing. |
