Yeah cause if I went survival and mark I would be able to kick ass an probably dodge most attacks, but my pet would not be as effective so I cant decide

Pets get killed. A lot.
Dont go Beast Spec because all those talents are wasted if your pet is dead.

Survival is not the way of the hunter. Hunter is not meant to be a melee class. If you try to melee later on you WILL die. No "If's" about it. Hunters are ranged attackers.

Marksmanship is the treasure trove of talents you want to invest in. Whatevers left dump into survival defenses.

As for dual wield. The off hand has 50% accuracy.

Just be warn if you are planning to PvP...Hunters who consistantly up Marksmanship are easy targets...especially to Shamans and Rogues. I should know as they are some of my easiest prey....even if they are 5 levels above me.

Nope...50% less damage, not accuracy. Otherwise, my rogue would hit for about 50 and 35 for her strikes...but she hits for 50 and 17. Trust me...I have been dual wielding since level 10. Unless there is a difference between Rogues off hand and Hunters.

Now there is a decrease in accuracy, but it is not 50%.

I have/had a 44 Marksman Hunter on a Pvp server. Without marksman spec, Hunters are Fodder against Rogues. I've killed Rogues 5 levels higher than me who got a jump on me. I wouldn't have been able to delay and keep them at bay without Marksmanship. With Hunters and Rogue in my experience whoever strikes first tends to have a heavier advantage. Pets should be supplementary damage not primary. Survival defenses are nice but once again you try to melee anything you're gonna die. You can't hope to kill a rogue in melee. If you try you will die. No ifs about it. Your only hope lies in ranged abilities and being able to keep the enemy at range. With beast spec your pet can get stronger but more often than not you will be useless. One fear on your pet and you're a dead man. Trust me, I'm not talking out of my ass. I've plenty of experience in the Hunter field. Marksmanship is the best bet.

You're right. I dont know the exact numbers, there's a decrease in accuracy and damage. The only difference between Rogues and Hunters in dual wield is Rogues get talents to increase off hand accuracy I believe.

The only way hunters within a 10 level range can kill me is if I am on my mount and they use Marksmanship and the arrows that will force me off my mount and/or stun me. But that happens on very rare occasions. I am an assassin rogue, so believe me, when I strike, they will be forced to melee or retreat with hopes their pet will be to daze me (if they do...I use vanish and cheap shot them again). However, if the player is smart, they should realize that they should try to ignore the pet and go after the player. If the player dies, so does the pet. I should be able to finish my prey before the pet even becomes an issue.

Yup. The talents for dual wielding increase the damage 10% per level in the combat territory. Now that I got Cold Blood, I think I will be spending some points in Combat to get that. But Cold Blood was something I was aiming to get first.

Hunter's Mark.

You should finish the player first. Allowing a Hunter to go full auto on you is stupidly suicidal. I don't rely on my pet. As I said before... Supplementary damage, that's all. You must fight a lot of stupid hunters who don't know how to use their marksmanship ability to keep an enemy at range. Improved/Normal Concussive shot, Wing Clip, Scatter shot all allow them to keep you away from melee. If they spec mostly in Beast Mastery they dont have that ability. Hawk eye talents give me an extra 6 feet of leg room to work with. Then again it's all about who has initiative. Rogues have the upper hand in being able to strike whenever they please. A smart hunter will have an ice trap to catch you and cheetah away for some range before switching back to hawk/monkey and unloading on you. Hunter's a complicated class. If you can learn to use your abilities you can be really strong but You can't hope to beat someone without any brains. As far as talent spec. hey it's all opinion. I've got my opinion that Marksmanship seems to be a better choice but I'm not putting a gun to anyone's head and forcing them. You say you kill a lot of hunters. I say I kill a lot of rogues. I've also been killed by a lot of rogues as well. In the end it comes down to good players and bad players. I can be good with my hunter against a rogue. You can be good against hunter's with your rogue. WOW isn't a game of Rock Paper Scissors. There's a level of skill involved as well.
