Although it will be a while before I get it...
Saturday, I bought my mom's car.
The guys at the Mitsu dealer were GREAT to me.
First, there are 3 sales guys... Matt, Alex and George.
Matt came up to me and said
Matt: Hey, have you driven the new Eclipse yet?
Shino: "No, I haven't."
Matt: *grabs keys* "Here take it for a spin while I print out your paper work"
All I can say about this vehicle is ...
saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
I finished and thought you know this may give the evo a run for it's money for my next car.
So we continued, and we tried to get info on my trade in, my mom's car.
I needed the miles and the vin, and I can't call her and ask! The new car is a gift! But I knew a mechanic that my mom goes to that was up the street.
Alex: Do you know their number
Shino: No I don't, but I can drive up there really quick
Alex: *grabs keys* *tosses them to Chris*
...
...
wait for it...
Alex: Here take the Evo
Shino: *jaw hits floor*
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!
OK, it was a used one. An '03, but man, let me tell you something anything you ever drove that you thought was fast, throw that shit out the window
I hit 3500 rpms in this car, and seriously my head hit the head rest!
The turbo kicked in and I thoguth I was playing Burnout 3!
So I go up there looking for the miles (I thought that was all I needed at the time), and he didn't have them. So I drove back.
I go to give the keys back to Alex...
Alex: So how was it?
Shino: ... ... ... *stupid smile*
No seriously... I was literally speechless for the first time in my life!
Anyway, so I couldn't get the miles. I told them this, and said "I have a plan." I called my mom.
"So Mom, I made the appointment to bring your car in for service on Sunday with Toyota. They need the miles though."
She just happened to be walking out to her car at the time, so that was easy.
I didn't realize I needed the VIN at the time.
So I give them the miles, and they tell me they need the Vin. I told them I couldn't get that. My mom would know something was up.
So they said
George: Well the guy that worked on her car should have it.
Shino: Ok I'll drive up there again.
Alex: *tosses Chris keys again*
Shino: Oh it's cool... I can take my car
Alex: Nah, take the Evo, it'll be quicker
So they gave me the Evo AGAIN. Oh, here comes that dorky smile again.
OK, so the Eclipse looked good for all of an hour until I drove this car
So, did I walk out buying 2 cars? No. Will power. I went there to buy the Lancer ES for mom's birthday, and that's it. BUT DAMN I WANTED TO!
So I drive up to the Mechanic again. Really cool guy. Named Roger. He knew about the whole deal before b/c my mom took the car to him just a few weeks before. I went up there without my mother knowing and told him what was up. He went to look up the VIN. He didn't have it. But he did have the plate number. And he was able to look up the VIN from the plate! AWESOME!
OK back to the Evo... on the last strech back to the dealer the second time
There was a porche and a ferarri on the road
I was flirting with them.
I mean the ferarri would have blown me away. Probably not the Porsche though. It was an older one.
Anyway, I was a good 12-15 car lengths back with cars between me and them and I dropped it a gear and gunned it. Weaved in and pulled up right behind the Ferarri. It was just fun.
So anyway, I brought the Evo back and finished up my deal. I drove away Evoless, but at least I know, that is DEFINATLY my next car!
Saturday was a good day for me!
More on one of the Sales guys. He was asking me for info.
First he asked me for my closest family member (location wise). So I have that to him.
Then he asked me for my closest friend.
Shino: Serina... S-E-R-I-N-A... Foor... F-O-O-R (Doot)
Alex: ... NO WAY!
Shino: ... what?
Alex: Does she have a brother name Sean that lives in Cinncy?
Shino: Yeah I think so.
Alex: Shit dood he's my best friend.
So we spend about 20 mins talking about that and how it's a small world and all that shit.
And it turns out, we now have a new drinking buddy who happens to sell cars for Mitsubishi. Haha... Exactly what I need!
Anyway, so that was my Saturday! It was awesome!
Shameless plug... Rick Case Mitsubishi get major props from me. They have been great! |

Maaaan...doesnt anyone buy American anymore? :-p
I've noticed Mitsubishi's products getting even better nowadays.
I am not crazy about the look of the new Eclipse, however the EVO is a tight little car. Now that being said I am quite the truck guy myself and I am on the site looking at the Raider and wow that is friggin awesome.
So I figured since you opened this thread I think it's time I tell you the story of the first time I discovered a turbo charger. Back in the ole days of the Eclipse.
So I tried to be a car guy but am just not interested enough. During my course I had a Grand Am Sport which had a whole new exhaust, headers, new engine, all the perks.
Well I was cruising around one day and spotted an Eclipse. I knew nothing about them except that they were a bit heavy with a not so big engine. Again, bear in mind I had no idea what a turbo charger was.
Pulled up to him at the light and we gave the nod. Light turned green and as we took off, as expected, I pulled ahead almost two whole car lengths. Then came second gear, I heard that high toned sound and before I could ask what they hell that was...I got a first class tour of the tail end of the new Eclipse...then he was gone.
End of line

Haha... good little story. And accurate. Turbos take a second to kick in. You have to rev it high to kick in right away. Which I did once. That was another thing. The AWD system in the EVO... yeah... I couldn't get the tires to even give me a chirp. CRAZY STICKY!
As for buying American...
Mitsubishi is owned by Chrysler my friend. And of the American companies... Chrysler is the one I would be most likly to buy from. So buying a Mitsubishi is helping out an American company.
Oh... And the Raider... Yes... very sweet... and built off the Dodge Dekota. How's that for buying American.
Some more info.
Ever see the Dodge Stratus or the Chyrsler Sebring riding around.
If so, say hello to the Mitsubishi Eclipse. Or at least the Eclipse Engine (and Tranny I think).

My parents have two 2002 Dodge Neon's...both of which come with Mitsubishi engines. Say what you will about Neon's, but my dad absolutely loves 'em...he says for the money, it's an incredibly reliable car...and I'm willing to bet it's because of the Mitsu engine. |

hahaha
Very cool...
But those only have 145hp and a max speed of 125 mph.
The Evo is 276hp and is ELECTRONICALLY LIMITED to 165mph.

Hehehe
Mitsubishi is a good company, you'd be surprised at all the stuff they make. |
