We got about eight inches of snow today which kept us close to home. So my son and I go downstairs to build the proverbial snowman. Trouble is, the snow won't pack down!
We floridians have sand, you know? We can build sand structures out the wazoo. Want a moat? I can do that for you! But a snowman?
If anyone has some good tips on building a better snowman, PLEASE let me know! I hate to be a failure in my son's eyes!
As for tomorrow, we are off to find the perfect sliding hill. All I have to do is remove all the duct tape and padding from our "shields".
Wish us luck! |

Snowman instructions:
1. Create a large snow ball that you can still carry in one hand. Put it gently on the ground. Begin to roll it across the snow, rotating it so that it gets snow evenly on all sides. This is the base. Make it big, because the rest of the snowman has to fit on top.
2. Repeat process, but make this one about a third smaller. If you have someone to help you, each one of you get on one side of this one and lift it up and place it on top of the first ball of snow. This is the torso. One more to go!
3. Repeat process, but make this one two thirds smaller than the first one. Then place it on top of the "torso." Then get some rocks, or buttons or coal, or whatever, for eyes and a mouth and place them on the top ball. A carrot is traditional nose material, but I've found that rocks/buttons/coal works alright too. Then you can dress him up or whatever, and get two sticks for his arm.
4. Then do the sacred Snow Demon Ritual of bringing the snowman to life and you have a fifty fifty percent chance between a Frosty type and a Killer Deranged Monster Snow Goon type. Beware the Snow Goon. They're bad. If you get one of those get a blow dryer, FAST.
And that's how you do it! Simple!
Have fun sleding! I wish I could enjoy the snow, but we don't have any. Lucky bums....
