September 26, 2005 - While doing press for her forthcoming release Elizabethtown, actress Kirsten Dunst may have finally let the proverbial cat out of the bag about the oft-speculated identities of the villains in Spider-Man 3.
Dunst is quoted at Zap2It as saying, "We have really great people though as the villains in this film, Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace -- Venom and Sandman." She added, "Maybe I wasn't supposed to say that."
But when a journalist expressed disbelief that Sandman lookalike Church would be playing Venom, Dunst corrected her gaffe. "It's the other way around. You're right."
So just to be clear: according to Dunst, Thomas Haden Church is Sandman and Topher Grace is Venom.
Although she hasn't read the script yet for Spider-Man 3 , which begins filming in January, Dunst said, "I know the general story. ... There's a lot that they're trying to fit into this one."
Spider-Man 3 is slated for a May 4, 2007 release |

Yeah, I heard that the main villain in Spider-Man 3 is Chameleon and that Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace both play him, considering you know, he's like a chameleon. |

I was talking to my brother-in-law, who's really into comics, etc. And he was telling me about the two guys who were cast as bad guys, although at the time no one knew exactly who they were going to play.
Although Venom is cool, I'm not sure if I would want to see him in a movie JUST yet. It seems to me that they've been sticking (so far) with classic Spiderman bad guys, and Venom just seems to me to be too modern for this movie. My brother-in-law mentioned that there were some signs in the other movies that the bad guy in this next one will be Lizard, which I'm actually excited about, so I'm hoping it would be him.
And Ultra, I REALLY don't think that Topher Grace would play Venom, regardless of who they do choose as a bad guy. He REALLY doesn't fit the part. It would have been like they're original plan of making Freddie Prinz Jr. Spiderman instead of Toby Maguire. |

I shudder to think that Topher would play Venom, everytime I see Topher I would think about That 70's Show and him quoting Star Wars...
Anyway, I thought they would do something with Harry/Green Goblin, or was he Hobb Goblin?...Sorry.. that's what I thought the second movie was leading to for the 3rd movie. Do you think they would bring in King Pin? |

Definitly Agree.
What -I- Would like is to have this movie be about Lizard and Hob Goblin (Harry) Because the Green Goblin suit sucked. Perhaps he gets the suit in this one and ditches it at the end and Brock picks it up setting up the next movie for Venom ala how they had that last scene with Harry in Spiderman 2. |

I thought Harry in the comics also became the green goblin and that Hob Golbin was a copy-cat dood?
But yeah, Venom entering int othe movie world is way too early for my tastes LIZARD MAN! |

He is, but I hate the Green goblin suit so I hope he becomes the Hob Goblin instead ^^ |
