This is rediculous.

Thompson is the FL lawer that blamed GTA:VC for the death of 3 people in AL. He has since been an anti-game activist, or so it seems.

He basically broke a "contract" saying he would donate $10K to charity.

Well the "terms" of the contract were apparently met and he didn't front up the cash. So Penny Arcade did. Good for them!

Penny Arcade donates in Thompson's stead
PA's Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins give $10,000 to ESA children's charity after antigame activist dismisses his own game challenge as "satire."

Just days after Jack Thompson was criticized by the National Institute on Media and the Family, an organization with which he has historically allied himself, the antigame activist is making headlines again. Earlier this month, the Miami-based attorney penned "A Modest Proposal," an open letter to game makers detailing his design for a violent action title, targeting individuals within the games industry, particularly Take-Two Interactive president Paul Eibler. According to the letter, Thompson would donate $10,000 to the charity of Eibler's choice upon the realization of his parody game.

Today, Thompson responded to the Fighting Hellfish mod team's creation of a PC Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas total conversion, created to meet Thompson's challenge. Although Defamation of Character: A Jack Thompson Murder Simulator (Note: The site is currently experiencing high traffic.) matched Thompson's criteria, the Miami-based lawyer won't be writing out any checks.

Thompson now describes his letter as "satire," much like its titular namesake, Jonathan Swift's A Modest Proposal. Thompson has stated that his goal in writing his apparently ironical epistle was to "highlight the patent hypocrisy and recklessness exhibited by the video game industry’s willingness to target cops, women, homosexuals, and other groups with some of their violent games.”

Penny Arcade cofounders Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik have fired back, accusing Thompson of hypocrisy in kind. After learning that Thompson would not make any donations, the pair announced they have given $10,000 in his name to the Entertainment Software Association Foundation. The ESAF, which recently completed a charity auction, pledges monetary support to such philanthropic causes as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Child Welfare League of America.

Well then the dumbass tried to strike back.

Basically saying that Penny Arcade is harassing him and he wants them arrested.

Thompson levies complaint with Seattle PD
Florida attorney requests police help in stopping site's "criminal harassment" of him, requests site be shut down, employees arrested.

Early this morning, GameSpot received an e-mail from Jack Thompson that contained a copy of a complaint letter he faxed to the Seattle Police Department regarding the Web comic Penny Arcade. In the letter addressed to Seattle Police Chief R. Gil Kerlikowske, Thompson claims that Penny Arcade "employs certain personnel who have decided to commence and orchestrate criminal harassment of me by various means." As evidence of harassment, he notes that the site sells an "I hate Jack Thompson" T-shirt, calling it "just the tip of the iceberg."

According to Thompson, the reason Penny Arcade has harassed him has nothing to do with the Web site's $10,000 donation to charity yesterday in an attempt to very publicly show him up. That event goes unmentioned in his letter. Instead Thompson says it is because he went on 60 Minutes twice to explain a wrongful death lawsuit he brought against Grand Theft Auto creator Rockstar Games on behalf of two Fayette, Alabama police officers and a police dispatcher. The three were killed by Devin Moore, who Thompsons says "obsessively trained on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City to kill them."

In closing, Thompson notes, "I look forward to working with your fine Police Department to shut this little extortion factory down and/or arrest some of its employees."

In the letter, Thompson accidentally misdirected police, sending them to www.pennyarcade.com, an unrelated and defunct site, instead of the comic's proper URL, www.penny-arcade.com.

The e-mail GameSpot received was sent to Penny Arcade creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins and the site's business development manager Robert Khoo. Copies of the e-mail were also sent to other media outlets, as well as several addresses at the national law firm Blank Rome LLP. Blank Rome Government Relations represents not only Take-Two Interactive, but also the City of Seattle.

However, it appears Thompson did neglect to send the letter to one very important party. As of 9:55 a.m. PDT, the Seattle Police Department confirmed to GameSpot that it had not received any such fax from Thompson.

Thompson has since e-mailed GameSpot again saying that he has fixed the URL and apparently faxed the letter, saying "they have it now." Thompson added, "That moral midgets like the computer geeks at Penny Arcade think that I am some sort of pixelated pinata in a game. I'm not. Gabe [the in-comic alter-ego of Penny Arcade artist Krahulik] decided to go after me, and he chose the wrong target. I've been at this longer than he has."

Hey Thompson... way to resort to name calling.

So Penny Arcade publicly announces they hate you. You know, people make shirts and stickers and all kinds of crap that say "I hate Bush" but you don't see him trying to get them arrested. You know why?

B/c this is America and if I hate you (which I do after reading this stuff) then I can publicly state it!

All you are doing is making yourself look bad. Good Job. NIMF already told you they want nothing to do with you. Keep burning those bridges Thompson. Soon you will find your hypocritical self all alone.

Way to give Penny-Arcade even more publicity. You know what, they are on my bookmark list now.

All you are doing is pointing more people to a place where they can find out exactly how rediculous you are being, and read comics and buy merchandise that tells how much they hate you!

Ol Jacky got nothing on PA. As far as humanitarianism goes Gabe and Tycho know how to do it in style. From their big charity project to the now epic battle with Jack Thompson. All I can say is after all is said and done, it wouldn't surprise me if the big lawyer man ends up in a mental institute. Because soon almost every gamer and sane person is gonna see him for the lying crackpot that he is and always will be.

....or something of that equivalant.

Hurrah Penny Arcade, you're the champions of the average gamer. Wether they realise it or not nyahaha.

One member of the #psow chatroom (DubCee) attempted to call Jack Thompson today, for the whole day.

Jack never answered. Sad

Balls of pent up frustation like Jack reap their own. Imagine if you walked aroudn with a giant stick like that up your ass all the time? Im sure the man has no enjoyments inlife, favorite movies or television programs. Hell he probably doesnt even read casaully. Constatly on the go looking for new cases to exploit, he has a hard time at home maintaining a family or friendly ties. Thats just the tip of the ice berg. He makes the wrong move and 100,000 angry gamers call him every few days to harrass him, merchandise slandering his name is sold and wonr proudly. This guy is huge loser and conceided as all get out. You have to feel sorry for the little prick - he'll never know the simple joys of leveling up or character customization.

I bet he's secretly a closet gamer.

In other but somewhat related news.
I was telling Shino earlier, I was playing the City of Villains Beta last night and there was a character named Jacko Thompson running around pretending to be a loser. So after a while he said "Alright Everyone Who Hates Jack Thompson....I'll be in the Arena in Five minutes."

What I think we should do is get everyone coming to AWA next year to buy one and have a "I hate Thompson" day where all of PO wears their shirts with pride!

I bet we would make the news!

And I bet I could get in touch with the guys at Penny Arcade to give us discounted rates on the shirts!
