i gave my mom a valentine's gift, mainly because im still rather young and that i have no love in my life...but i discovered that if u give them something that is really special, such as something u made urself, it is soo much better than buying chocolates. What im saying, is that rather then give ur valentine a box of chocolates, give her a couple of cookies that you made youself, and decorated yourself...they will truely appreciate that, and you dont have to spend money either $$

~nods~ I agree whole heartedly. If something is handmade, Im gonna love it that much more. It can be a simple stick figure holding a flower and Ill think its the sweetest thing, and unless someone is superficial, they would think so too!

Okay, here's where I get philosophical.
Now, I'm not big into Holidays. I'm not big into gifts or going to fancy restuarants or anything like that. I'm not into spending money as a form of expression. I never understood it. However, I am all into getting into holiday spirit, and for me that is telling people how you care. Look at any *real* holiday. They're all about caring about people in different ways. So when Valentine's comes around I don't go all shopping crazy, I write some personal letters and hand them out to people that I care about. It's only about chocolate and flowers if you LET it be, because behind all that is the real reason for the holiday, and that's what I'm into.

Yes, Rev, I quite agree. The love that is expressed on Valentine's day does not have to be the romantic love that one finds in a relationship with someone you are physically attracted to, it can be the love of a friend, of a mother, of a father, of a sister, of a brother. It extends to all forms of love, and that's important to remember.
