It's because it's box of Portal: 3 Kingdoms. 3 Kingdoms was the third installment in the Portal series of sets that were designed as easy, learning sets. The only thing with 3 Kingdoms was that it was never released anywhere but Asia, and as a result, it commands high prices. If you go to StarCity and check out singles for 3 Kingdoms, you'll know what I mean. The card Zodiac Dragon fetches around $200 and Imperial Seal (which is set up to be a Vintage or Type 1 staple) fetches $150.
So, I hope that helps and answers your question. |

I saw them on Star City... I guess it just baffles me that these cards would be worth so much.
I guess it's more collectibility than playiblity at this level |

Yeah screw $900 for a box of boosters. If I need the card I'll just buy it. Since I'm in the playing business now. As like 10 years ago I was in the trading/playing business and cared how much a card cost or keeping it uber nice. |

Though it would be worth a lark if you could get people to help pitch in for the cost, then see if luck is on your side and you fetch the uber good priced cards. |

Yeah, but to some extent, you should keep an eye on the values of your cards, even if you only plan on playing with them. Often times, you might need a card for a deck, but you don't want to buy it. So trading is the next best thing. And if you don't know trade values, you can end up getting royally screwed, and that's NEVER fun.
I've done a few deals in the past few months that I still kick myself for. Why? Because I didn't pay enough attention to the value of certain cards, which I ended up trading for about half of what they were worth. And you have to remember that while the people here on PO are nice, and wouldn't do that to you, MANY other players will, because that's just the way they are. It's a sad shame, but true. So it is in your own best interest, and in the interest in the investment that you may make, to keep track of what you have. |

I've never needed a card I couldn't buy for 10c out of the commons box. Ever.
I dont care how cool monster is, how much damage your fireball does, or how much it worth, a counterspell sends it packing to the graveyard, everytime. |

Yea I'm a big Budget fan too ^_^.
90% of everything I usually snag I either trade for or get dirt cheap. |
