I have been so addicted to this game since it came out that it's sad. I am repeatedly getting my ass handed to me with strawberry sauce but I keep returning. If you own a DS and like puzzle or RPGs even the slightest, I would recommend this to you. However don't let the ads fool you, it has RPG features (exp, levelling up, monsters, etc) but is not an rpg.

Well I would suggest getting a DS flash cart. I have the DS Xtreme (4GB) and it holds about 10 games at a time. The newer one (2gigs) holds about 40. No more waiting in store lines. If you want info, PM me.

I'm a horder and like having actual physical media and artwork.

Boxees, manuals and cover art are part of the complete package to me.

Thanks anyway.

Same.

This game is incredibly addicting! I think my character is level 10 now. I've done a bunch of quests and it's just so different.

Not only that, but there are multiple paths. I've done 1 quest so far where I had a choice of what I could do.

Definitely one of the best $30 purchases I have ever made.

Also... I forgot how much I loved playing my PSP. *glee*

Did I mention how much I love the music in this game!

OK so I now have a dungeon, mage tower, stable and forge in my citadel.

I've Captured an Orc, researched his spell, and made a flame dagger!

This game is so freaking awesome. I can't believe how deep it is. I mean everytime I play it it seems I'm finding something new you can do.

If you like RPGs, especially those with sidequests, and you like puzzle games... you NEED this game!

DS or PSP... Pretty much the consensus across the board is that the PSP one is slightly better than the DS one. Here's what one review said about the difference of the two versions.... and it's pretty accurate from videos and stuff that I've seen.

Gamespot wrote:
Both the PlayStation Portable and DS versions of Puzzle Quest have their quirks. On the PSP, loading issues can cause the game to hang for a second. These disruptive pauses can strike at almost any time, whether you're scrolling across the overworld map or casting a spell during combat. They don't really ruin anything, but they're annoying nonetheless. On the DS, the problems with the presentation are much more severe and end up impacting the gameplay. The graphics aren't as crisp and clear as they are on the PSP, and there are barely any flashy special effects. Most significantly, the puzzle playfield appears cramped on the lower screen of the DS, and it's difficult to discern certain pieces. Because of the size of the pieces, it's also easier to make mistakes with the game's mandatory stylus controls. The content is still good, but these problems make the DS version harder to recommend. While the presentation can be uneven between the two versions of Puzzle Quest, both feature some really great, sweeping music that fits the tone of the straightforward adventure quite beautifully.

I can say I have seen the loading issues that they are talking about. It doesn't really impact gameplay. I have not seen it happen on the map like they said though. I only see it during battles when you cast a spell or it has to load some sort of effect. Another example is when you hit an Heroic Effort (5x combo). It will sometimes pause for less then a second to load the effects on the screen.

I haven't played the DS one, but from what I've seen, what they say about the graphics are true. And the playing board does look pretty cramped on the screen. Honestly, I'm surprised that playing with the stylus is mandatory.

For the record, they gave the DS an 8.1 and the PSP an 8.5. Both VERY respectable scores for Gamespot. They gave the DS 1 less point on graphics (6 instead of 7) and gameplay (8 instead of 9).

Either way... this is $30 WELL SPENT!
As Penny Arcade stated... twice

Well I love the stylus control, it just feels like it was meant to be that way. The downside is that you will make at least 2-3 errors per game tapping icons you didn't mean to. I can't tell whether this is my fault or the game's fault (I've recalibrated my stylus like 10 times since I got this game) but I do think it's the game's fault.
Still, I love it. I'm a level 16 now and using primarily Fire spells (gotta love Fireball and Heat Sink) I've forged maybe three weapons but haven't had a chance to use them fully. I do love the Mirror Armor and Mirror Helm tho. They screwed it up tho by not having it fully Wi-Fi enabled, that's mt only beef...oh, and the way the computer seems to Topdeck whenever it has to.

edit: Topdeck- to pull just the thing you need just when you need it. Sorry to all you non-cardplayers.

Hey Razer... have you been able to successfully siege a city yet. The damn things are just too damn powerful.

Also, have you noticed the abilities that your companions have going off. I know the first guy you get is supposed to do 10 pts of damage to undead right off the bat... but I've never seen it happen.
