I want to know at what point the world went insane where one person could not have an Opinion about any subject without doing intense research on the subject at hand.

Lets take a recent thing I have posted about, Maroon 5's new CD. I have heard well over half of it and listened to snippets of it on Amazon.com yet I am not allowed to say that I do not like the band or the CD because I have not listened to the entire album. Does that make sense? Do people actually do things they don't like for extended periods of time just so they can announce to people that they didn't like what they just did for an extended period of time?

Lets also take the New Zelda game...I played it for 9 hours...The game takes about 40 to beat if you played it straight through. So I played 1/4th of the game and disliked pretty much every minute of it. Why am I not allowed to say that this was in fact a bad game? It doesn't matter if you liked it and I shouldn't be rebuked for it.

I also don't like the Wii and feel its control scheme is clunky. I again get the "You haven't given it a chance" excuse. Does this make sense? Must I play EVERY game on the Wii to completion before my opinion that the system is nothing but a party system will be accepted instead of rebuked? I didn't play every Genesis game ever made but I still liked that system.

Granted yes some of you don't know the difference of acceptance and total rebuking of an opinion. You don't HAVE to agree with anything I or anyone else says. However you do have to accept that some people don't like what you like and they have a right to say they don't like something without having the person that does like something telling them that they just don't understand how awesome this thing is because they just can't comprehend how great it is.

There are men in the world that enjoy having a cheese grater rubbed onto their manhood. They get sexual arousal from this pain. Do you think that these men go up to people tell them what they do and say, "Hey have you ever tried it before? Then don't knock it." Then the other person goes home and rubs his junk on a cheese grater and passes out from the pain. The next day they approach the previous man and say, "Yep, I tried it and don't like it." Does the first man have the right to say, "You didn't do it till you received sexual gratification from it therefore you can't formulate a real opinion on the subject."

I can understand if someone never tried/heard/ate something and automatically doesn't like it how you can kind of accuse them of saying they don't like it cause they have never tried it. But there are some things some people just will never like. I hate racing games that don't encourage you to maim the other drivers in some way or do insane crap to win (See Burnout and Rush games). I write off all non-arcadey racing games as "Racing Games" and don't pay them a second glance. Likewise, when I hear music I don't like I pretty much don't like the band that put out the music. For example Linkin Park no longer plays "Nu Metal" and has strayed from it on their recent CD. At the moment I do not like them that much anymore because they betrayed what made them great and have become a band that sounds like they just want to be on soundtracks now...Which they are actually.

I think most people want to understand WHY you dont like something. Not saying that it is right, that you have to justify your opinion, but I myself am usually just curious as to why someone does/does not like something, but I still respect thier opinions.

Its rare that I like all the songs on every album that is put out. Most of the time I like about 4-5 songs. If I like over half the songs on an album, I'll tend to buy it....but now I am an iTunes junky, because I can buy only what I want, and not have to waste my money on the stuff I do not. I do have to say though that I like 2-3 songs I've heard from maroon 5 XD But I can understand that it is definitely not for everyone. Most things are like beer....an acquired taste.

I bolded where the issue may be here. Stating that you dont like the game after 9 hours, and stating why you dont like it, perfectly fine. Most people may have an issue when you make a statement like above, stating as a fact that it is a bad game. While people who know you, know you arent indeed making a FACTual statement, you're making an opinion based on your experience, but people who dont know you, could definitely misunderstand your point, I think.

I think its a fun and unique idea, and I have fun with it in short bursts, but so far its not a system that I spent hours playing, like with XB or PS systems.

They were interviewed on Sirius the other day, and they said they were trying something new with this new album, to get back to what they wanted to do, since according to them, they strayed from that on thier last album...but I LOVE thier last album, I'm not feeling this new one so much. But maybe there are others out there who didnt like thier old stuff, and enjoy the new stuff. The artist is happy with what they did, then I am happy they did what they wanted, I'm just not going to buy it =P lol

Gaaz, how do you know about this cheese grater thing? Hmm...?

Also, as far as I know, Maroon 5 is a boyband. I think they're latin and they suck. Razz

I love Stern!

I dont like beer much either, but I have found, surprisingly, that I think I can tolerate Corona as long as there is lime in it. Takes out the bitterness some.

I'm pretty stoic and and border on apathetic when it comes to other people. But I don't think I've ever told anyone their opinion was wrong because they have never experienced something "enough." Now if you said something like "I hate the Halloween movies." and you have never saw them then yeah...I'll yell at ya.
XD

I'll tell someone their opinion is wrong straight up and defend why it is. But I'll never say something like, "You only think that Judge Dredd sucks cause you haven't seen it 16 times like me."
