Employment/Internship RANT!!

Ridiculous, fucking ridiculous.

I am required by my Educational Institution to log 144 hours of internship practicum in order to graduate. Now it's nearly a month and a half into the semester and I haven't been able to get barely a nibble!

I got a few leads from my institution and professors, but overall, the leads I found were straight out of TV ads and "cold calls."

I've gotten ZERO response, either straight out "no" or "you can leave your resume if you want, but we're not hiring at the moment."

I've even said I would volunteer my services; meaning, free, unpaid help and still nothing.

I am seriously at the end of my rope and without finishing this "class" I won't be eligible for graduation in May. My wedding is in June and I want to be a college FUCKING graduate BEFORE I get married.

Anyone have ANY advice for me? Should I just find an alternative, or keep "whoring" myself out to anyone who will have me and hope I get a call back?

The only thing I would suggest is putting yourself out there on employment websites as well. Go hunting and email people your resume... that sort of thing.

It's pretty shitty that they would require you to have 144 hours of employment experience and not set you up with something.

That's been my problem with higher education. They don't give you nearly enough help or attention that you need in order to complete your program. If you haven't already, I would go to your department head and inquire about it. And if that person can't help you, you need to go higher. Just be sure to let whoever you talk to know that you've been following leads and that you've pursued options on your own. Still, you're probably going to have to do a majority of the legwork yourself. Just keep positive and keep up with any leads you get.
