Well, in Catholic churches the money isn't to BUILD churches it's to support the churches. IE ALL programs such as building churches, funding orphanages and buying a new Mazarade for the preacher who, coincidently, needed to take a vow of poverty in order to take up the cloth.

But like I said before orphans still live in squalor and the churches are shotty at best and catholic families STILL haveta pay for their kids to be in catholic schools. (Useta not be that way cause the Nuns did the teaching but nowadays they use REAL teachers...Granted there's no reason for them to charge NEARLY as much as they do.)

You misunderstood me. ^_^;

When I said church building I meant the church itself, not building the church.
That's one of the things about Catholisism it's like a franchise or something. The churches are connected. I'm baptist, and we have a little church. So the offeringsgo directly to the building itself. It's that way with almost all non-catholic churches.

Actually I read a book that said that the Pope is the anti-christ, and I couldn't agree more. I think that the catholic church is the biggest cult in the world. And all their faggoty laws and bylaws make no sense, and are not in line iwth BIBLE law

That is why I am a agnostic, I believe in god but it think pretty much every major religion is hypocitical, they all teach one, but will do the exact oposite in a second if it will further thier ideals, weather it be killing, stealing, lyeing it doesnt matter. And even though i was raised catholic it is one of the worst. And islam is a very respectable religion but there are phycos who take it way to far, I have talked to my good friend abdul about what it says in the koran, and it is totaly agains murder as is catholosism. But that didi stop them in the crusaids and its not stopeing terrorist now.

So lemmi ask you this, If religion is so great why are there so many injustices done in its name?

My two cents:

God is an entity that will punish people for what they believe! Even if you do good your whole life, you go to Hell if you don't believe in God.

Also, another thing that annoys me: People say that God views everyone as equals. Not so. In the Bible it says, 'A man is unto his wife as Jesus is unto the church.'

These are how I understand things. If I am wrong, please correct me.

My belief is that God does not punish people for what the believe, nor does he treat everyone as equals. As I see it, and I find myself to be fairly religious, God has the power to do whatever the hell He feels like doing. And He does, which explains why bad things happen with no clear explanation. I took a class this semester on the Old Testament, and it opened my eyes to a lot of things. The problem with religion vs. the Bible is that religion seems to think that God is all-forgiving, and portrays Him almost as our servant. In reality, it doesn't say anywhere that I have found yet (and you can correct me if I'm wrong) that God has to do anything for us, nor be merciful. I mean, I've also found that, for the most part, He's a nice guy that gives us a good amount of slack when it comes to being obedient. But He does punish, and sometimes for no reason. But then again, as God basically says to Job, "Where were you when I created the universe? What did you create? Who the hell are you to question me and my l337 infinite power, little man?"

And I agree with Gryph that the reason so many people die in the name of religion is because of people. There are so many things that could potentially be good, but we as people screw them up. For example, Communism really doesn't sound like such a bad idea when you look into it and look past the stigmas that surround it. Who wouldn't wan't a government where everyone is equal and shares everything? The problem, however, is that too many people are greedy bastards and want everything. Human nature sucks...

the christian bible does have a lot of good advice, god-inspired or not. if so-called christians would take the time to read it, they'd realize they should stop pushing their ideas onto people that just plain don't wanna hear it. you can lead a horse to water butcha can't make him drink
