well, i seem kind of out of place in this thread...but i want to come in here and speak to everyone.

I am not a depressed guy...i was gifted at birth with the inane ability to always look at the silverlineing of that damn storm cloud...even if it doesnt have one.

What i am trying to say is that i have gotten many people out of that hole known as depression, so feel free to come and talk to me...and im serious. You will probably find me almost any time on the net, becuase of my being home for amazingly long hours after school and being by myself. In case you guys dont know, my AIM name is Tobias13819...if you ever are on AIM, and are feeling down, and you need someone to talk to, and i am on...i suggest that you give me a ring...cause i'll try my very best to make you feel better...and i have done it before

Tobias in the last four months I have spent about 85% of that time depressed for one thing after another. I have finally come to the conclusion that I am not allowed to be happy if you really think that you can cheer people up then I dare you to pull me out of the bottom depths of depression. you may be able to cheer me up for a few minutes at a time but the real challenge will be to cheer me up completely.

Depression is a subject I know all to well due to the fact that I suffer from bipolar disorder. This is a fact that very few people know even those who are close to me.

Anyway Katana and anyone else who is feeling down I will say this to you, at various points during your life things will get on top of you be it work/school , social stuff or a combination of other things. The trick is to try and find some sort of way to get through it like support from friends or loved one. I know this may sound like the basic solution that you have heard many time before but it WORKS.

Take it from one who knows and trust me I have been at the very bottom.

Selrahc...you shouldn't take what Tobs is saying for granted. You don't have to talk to him about problems if you don't want to, and maybe you believe that he can't help, but what he's saying and offering is genuine and heart-felt because that's the kind of person that he is. I've known the kid for almost 17 years (he's my little brother), and I can attest to his attitude towards most things. He is one of the most optimistic and easy-going people that I have ever known. Very rarely does he let anything bother him, and I'm sure the only reason I've ever seen it is because I know him so personally. I also should apologize to him here, because I know that a lot of the things that he lets bother him are a result of me, in most cases. For that, Mike, I am truly sorry. He's also ALWAYS willing to sacrifice something for someone else. This is not a personal attack on you or anything Selrahc, but do realize that you shouldn't be so sure about some things in life. You'd be surprised at how little things can often help.

And I agree with what Shuri said...depression is a normal thing that EVERYONE goes through at some point. I'm usually an easy-going optimistic person, but there are times, when things get tough, that I slip into deep depression. The solution, as I see it, is not to necesarily talk to loved ones, but to stop dwelling on what's bringing you down. No offense to anyone here (its not my intent to piss off or anything), but the problem with most people is that they fall into patters of feeling sorry for themselves, even if the smallest bad thing happens. They get used to this, and claim that their life sucks, etc.

And also, it just seems to me that some people are waaaay to young to be complaining about how their life sucks, etc. Why? How can you possibly know, at say 15, ANYTHING about life and what makes it suck or not?

I did not mean to be insulting or anything Ming but depression sometimes locks away all the feeling that I need to let go of and the easiest way to set them free again is by a question. because that question will force me to think about and deal with things that I don't want to think about.

And I must say that at 18 I know a lot about life and what makes it suck. now I don't know about you but as for me. 5 heart surgeries +1 this summer, moving across the country twice, being kicked out of two high scools, and losing 3friends to suicide( two of whice I could have stopped). has taught me a lot about the things that make life suck. I apologize if this sounds alittle mean to you but over the past few years I have heard far too many people tell me what I don't know.

ok on a liighter note. I agree with you, your brother is a really nice guy I just feel the need to warn him about who he tries to help. I am greatfull that he wants to help but I don't want to consume him with my problems.
