So you're waiting patiently (or perhaps impatiently) at the intersection, waiting to turn left so you can go to the mall and maybe buy something. The traffic light turns green, you try to turn your car, and...nothing. The engine, which was running just fine a few minutes ago, suddenly goes kerflooey and dies. Keep in mind that there is a line of cars behind you, and you are literally stuck. So you start the engine once...nothing. Again, you try to start the car. Finally the engine comes to life and you roll down the street, and you apologize mentally to the drivers who were behind you.
Then you get down the street, see Office Depot, decide to park in the parking lot there, and call your parents to inform them of the car trouble. And just as you enter the parking lot, the engine dies a second time. Now there are two or three cars behind you, and the drivers are getting slightly impatient because your car isn't moving. And so you try to start the engine, and again you have no luck. And this time, the second time *isn't* the charm. You try to figure out a way to stop irritating the drivers behind you and get the car to its destination--but you can't. You hit the emergency brake, and out of nowhere, two men come to help you. They suggest putting the car in neutral so they can push the car to safety, which is what they end up doing. A little voice in your head tells you that you *knew* what to do, but your mind when blank when the car suddenly stopped, and file this experience in your memory bank. When the car reaches a spot in the parking lot, you get out, thank the two strangers profusely, and go into Office Depot to use the phone. You call your parents, but there is no answer. Still nothing, not even after three times. Then you call the phone number at the side of the car window, but the woman at the other end won't help you because *you're* not a member of said organization, your parent is. Miffed, you hang up and dial your parents' number again. Success! You tell them what happened, and they are on their way.
And then you wait. You wait and you wait, and your parents show up, ask what's going on, and your dad decides to try to see if the car will work. So he makes it out of the parking lot...and then the car gets stuck. In traffic. He somehow manages to return to the parking lot, and neither he nor anyone else in your family can figure out why the car is acting up.
And that's what happened to my family today. Hope no one else is having car trouble. |

Sadly, I know what you're all talking about. I used to have a car that did that constantly. It pissed me off to no end, and yet...when my parents got rid of it, it brought a tear to my eye. But anyway, enough of that tangent. What really got my blood boiling was when the car decided to act up in traffic and the people behind me would start honking horns...after the car had been stopped for like 2 seconds. That impatience REALLY got to me, and made me really hesistant and paranoid when I drove the car around. |
