As Sega's cult classic series prepares its triumphant return with NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, the company isn't resting on its laurels to reestablish the mascot. Jeux France has scans of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu (via Joystiq) that show the original Saturn game NiGHTS into Dreams being ported to the PlayStation 2 in February 2008 in Japan.
The port will display in widescreen, and feature improved graphics -- most likely using some assets from the Wii game. It will also have some extras for NiGHTS fans, including videos and art from production of the game. Though Famitsu only mentions a Japanese release, a domestic version could be incoming...if Sega likes making money. |

Nah... PS2 is perfect. With an installed base of 120M! How could you go wrong.
I wouldn't be surprised if the ported the new NiGHTS over to PS2 as well. |

Me too. Especially since I never really played it on Saturn.
It'd be hard to go back now to the saturn version. I'm usually not a graphics whore, but with 3d games, it's different. I'm not sure, but 2D games... I can easily go back to... 3d.. not so much. |

Yeah, when I got my Saturn for the first time last year I played it and NiGHTS was pretty damn horrid looking.
But it wasn't like it was just bad graphics by todays standards but it was bad for back then too. 
Maybe there's a game play element or something. All I saw was flying around collecting balls. |

I will have to disagree. In my opinion, NiGHTS trumps FFVII. And was released before it.
And the gameplay was really innovative and original. |
