Should I go to my half brother's wedding in...Aruba?!?

I have my passport ready and the wedding is in August. However I don't think many of my side of the family is going to be there. My half brother is actually my father's son and my father passed away some years ago. I doubt my older brother will come and I will not have a date and I am not sure if I want to spend $1200 or more (depending on if work will give me a comp).

I was thinking of turning it into a five night vacation and just go to the wedding and reception on one night and explore the island alone for the rest of the time. I don't know if it is a wise investment, but I have never been and I think it would be an amazing trip, especially if I go alone as I can do whatever I want. However if I wanted to do tours, that is going to cost extra and I don't know if I have the funds for extravagance. I don't just want to sun on the beach but I don't want to be broke when I return.

Should I go, or should I wait?

seems l like you want to go for the vacation. WHy don't you go ahead and do it then kid? If anything, just budget yourself and make sure you don't spend too much money.

You've got plenty of time to research the area and plan out what you want to do. Maybe your brother can help you with the planning. I would assume that he'd know a little more about the area if they are getting married there...I mean, he'd at least have to have seen the area and know how things work in order to arrange a wedding there.

But then again, I could be totally off, and contacting him would let on that you planned on staying.

No clue what to tell you in regards to the half-sibling part. I'm a complete only child with a stepsister I've never met.

Just don't forget to plan out for someone to take care of your babies (Frodo and your Rats). I think with my own cats, I'd have a friend either stay or check in on them. Hehe, I don't think we've even left our cats alone overnight since our 3rd addition. I'm not sure how Frodo would react to being boarded at the vet.

I never even thought about my boys! OMG! Frodo would hate to be without mama for five days! And talk about bored, he would probably tear up the house! Plus he would hate he me immensely if I sent him to the vet. I will have to think of something...

Aruba here I come!! Mr. Green

I got my air ticket and am working out the hotel stay. I have already got part of the stay at the hotel where the wedding is going to be for the rehersal dinner and for the reception, but for the other nights I am going to use a work discount and stay at two star resort and take a lot of day trips.

I'm totally excited and now I have to get a new dress and a new swimsuit! OMG I am actually going! And...I am going to take scuba lessons and go scuba diving! *bounces up and down*

As far as the pets are concerned I think I'm gonna have my ex's mom (still really good friends with her) come over to check on them because she has a kitty of her own and the rats are really easy to take care of.

*UPDATE* I have the hotel stay booked and saved some money with a work discount! YAY! I'm officially going to Aruba! Now I have to get a new dress for the wedding and a new swimsuit. I am so fish white and I cannot wait to get some color.

Bwahaha, fish white.. *looks from waist down to knees* Ok so I'm fish belly white down there, and though I'd love to I really can't just go running around in my skimpies, though glorious it would. At least not her in Georgia.

But thats good, you get to use a wedding as your excuse too!! Everyone needs some vacation time anyway. Hope you have a good time!

*Update* Only ten more days!! I have the dress for the wedding, new shoes, new swimsuit and so much more. I am so excited! Sun, sand and lots of fun! I can't wait!!
