Phys-Ed Class - I don't... care.

I'm in Grade 11 in a Catholic school, there are a few mandatory courses for the year. I have to take English, Math, World Religions/Philosophy, and Gym.

I'm currently 1 month into my Gym class. To be perfectly candid, I don't give a #$%@ about it. I'll never use the credit for anything, unversities don't ever look at it unless you go in under Kinesiology or Biology, neither of which I'm all that interested in studying. Given all that, I should really start going to that class instead of heading to the library to do homework. I just can't convince myself of the point, though; I went today, and the teacher decided he would throw a pop quiz about the stuff I missed.

I got perfect.

It's... pathetic. I can understand that if you chose that as a career, you'd need this course to advance into the real physical science and activites course, but making it mandatory? I had to give up Physics to take this course, and it screwed up my schedule so I'll have to stay an extra semester. Bah.

There's my little rant for the day... just writing this down helps.

i know how u feel metalman, i too dislike gym, mainly because its a useless course to me...but i desided to just forget my hate for it, and utilize it as a period where im free from academics, so thats how i get my freedom from my schoolwork. I know it sounds kindof corney, but it really hellps to think of it that way

I know exactly how you feel, buddy, but I did extra curricular sports and music and together they got all my PE waived, which was tight, but I still don't get why it's mandatory. It's pretty stupid.

i wish my high school could waive out gym, but even if u do take a sport, u still have to take phys ed.

I spend a minimum of... *counts* 17 hours per week on extracurriculars. It'd be nice if that'd waive something...

You're just looking at it the wrong way. I know that it sucks that it's required, but you should look at it as Tobs mentioned. It's a period free from academics, where your stress level can almost go away, which is well worth it, even if it's only for 45 minutes or so. At least that's how I looked at gym. It was well worth running stupid laps to know that I got a break from class. And that's my $0.02

Bah, I would have gladly given up English classes and taken some other team sports classes instead or something. I hate writing reports. Reading and answering sections, not a problem, writing reports...problem ~snore~

Thats one main thing that has always hindered me from going to college, because i dispise English so much. I am a math whiz, but english bores me to tears. ugh...i really hate that class lol

Funny thing about English class was that I was good at it and yet I hated every minute of it...Well, until Senior year where our teachers were insane so it was cool yo.

But I keep goin back to Community college and it took me like 3 times to pass English 101 cause I kept ditching classes. I took 102 once but it was on Computer and apparently our teacher didn't care so we never got assigned anything then all of a sudden we had a 10 page report due on a topic that I couldn't spread over 10 pages. I wish you could take like a sociollogy class to replace English but NOOOO!

Oh, and I never took gym in HS cause I took an ROTC class...Which was funny cause the year I left I was still Gaining rank. I left a lieutenant and became a Captain..I woulda made Major but they caught on to the fact that I wasn't in their class. hehehe

The only problem I ever saw with Gym is that they don't let you do what YOU wanna do. In Grade-school the teacher asked us what we wanted to play and all those fuggers chose basketball....I HATE basketball. I wanted Football or softball but NOOOO EVERY FUGGIN DAY it was Basketball...My whole Goddamned 7th and 8th grade career was spent outside the blacktop cause I sucked so horribly bad at basketball. But if ya needed me ta hit something or knock someone down I was all for it.

I remember that my gym teachers usually didn't care what we did, as long as we did something constructive. That kinda pissed me off though. And too often they used basketball as a program because they were obviouly too lazy to do their jobs and plan out something good for us to do. Despite that though, I liked gym because again, it got me out of class for a while, and I got to basically just hang out with my friends, who were usually in my class also.
