=/ Vocal Musician does not = Singer.. lol. >> My best friend is a "singer".. Im a Vocal Musician. I do sing in a Mixed Ensemble, and we had our Fall Concert last night. =D We did very well, though there was some confusion and we almost did not get recorded. We sang 5, I think, SATB pieces. They all worked out wonderfully, despite some tenors not being nearly loud enough when we were allowed to carry the melody or given certain chords. So all you Vocal Artists, what part do you sing? Any favorite peices? Right now I am trying to build up stamina for our Masterwork Concert this spring.. looking to hire a full orchestra to play with us.. Sweeeeeet.

If I understand what you mean by "vocal musician", then I think Sperrit is one...but I could be wrong...

To my knowledge there is no official term "vocal musician." Perhaps it's something in your area where more prestige is given to a classical singer than perhaps a pop singer. I dunno. But to each their own.

Everyone that takes part in the act of singing, i.e. producing music with your voice, is in fact a singer. It doesn't matter the style of music. It's like saying an apple does not = fruit. You could be called a vocalist perhaps. There are classical singers or vocalists, jazz singers or vocalists, pop, rock, whatever. Or perhaps you mean striving towards professionalism?

I'm a rather multi-faceted singer, so I may not fit into your catagory of vocal musician. I've studied music classically and sung since I was 8. I sang in a vocal jazz ensemble in highschool. I sing solo pieces in a more personal style. I've sung in madrigral ensembles. I also write music, and am in my 3rd year at college majoring in composition.

And yeah, Sperrit is a vocal major in college, he's a tenor. I'm a baritone. I've sung with him a whole lot :3

In any case, welcome, nice to meet you Cobbi

^^ Vocal Musician is just a term for someone who has actually had voice training or been in singing classes of some sort. Rather than many singers out there today who really don't seem to know much about music or singing.. It's nothing prestigious, but it does sound that way.. lol.

<------- honestly doesn't know much about music but learning. I was in chorus and sang Tenor / Baritone. Does that count?

And I'm not referring to Ryu. He is a badass.

I took voice lessons once <_<

My teacher said I had a good voice, and every now and then the mood still takes me to sing along to one song or another. Usually something from Tom Lehrer. But I could never get up in front of people and sing, I get stage fright so bad I can't move XD

*raises hand*
I am a vocal musician. Been singing in choirs and such since I was...8? I usually sing where voices are needed, because I have a very large range. Sometimes I learn more than one part and at the concerts my director just puts me where the section needs help. ^^ I was in all-state and honors choruses last year. My favorite things to sing are also Latin hymns, I just love the rhythm and words in hymns. And the Latin ones are just beautiful. I also play the violin, almost more than I sing nowadays. Concert master in my orchestra if that means anything to you vocalists. ^^v
I miss having male singers in my choirs...nowadays I always get stuck in the all-girl's chorus. Go male vocalists. XD
