I figure Nin is licensing the other games but I'd like to see an across-the-board pricing system. Just average all games out to $6 or $7. Eventually you're going to get games that are too similar and then it becomes "do I pay $5 for Nin's Kirby's Avalanche or $6 for Compile's Puyo Puyo or $8 for Sega's Mean Bean Machine (just for examples). I mean, it's easy to choose between Mario and Sonic depending on which camp you're in (and we all chose a camp back then) but when they get games like Splatterhouse vs Double Dragon vs Streets of Rage that $2 diff may mean a lot and Nin is going to suffer most because whatever game doesn't sell, it doesn't sell for their system. |

Though it's also as you said, everyone was in a camp back then. So you figure there is at least a small percentage of die hards for each game that will end up being bought at some point or another. |

The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past and Super Mario World still aren't available in the United States, but at least someone's pandering to geek pastimes -- Sega's issued Gunstar Heroes (800 points) on Wii's Virtual Console service this morning, alongside TurboGrafx pinball game Alien Crush (600 points), Ice Hockey (500 points) and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (800 points). |
And Europe's list looks pretty darn good too!

They better. We deserve Super Castlevania IV.

Considering Donkey Kong Country originated overseas, we're not surprised Nintendo of Europe ensured the side-scroller appeared on their Virtual Console list first. Who knows when Donkey, Diddy and the rest of the crew will appear on our shores, but while Nintendo of America's avoided distributing a set release schedule for Virtual Consoles, Nintendo of Europe's done the opposite.
What does this mean for us? While Nintendo seems happy delivering Japan the best games off the bat, America and Europe's releases remain closely aligned. Europe's Official Nintendo Magazine has revealed the official release schedule via their message boards, which should (hopefully) provide an indication of what's expected on our Virtual Console before the end of the year, too. Maybe.

# Tennis (NES)

# SimCity (SNES)
# Super Probotector (SNES)
# Super Castlevania IV (SNES)

R-Type, Kid Icarus, Punch-Out, Kirby's Adventure and PilotWings are already in the ESRB's database but they aren't on any release schedule -- what's the deal? Does Nintendo not want our money? |

I'll buy games when they get the Sega Shadowrun and Star Control.
Until then I really have no interest in any of the upcoming releases. |

One of the most respected Turbo Grafx games ever! Military Madness! From back before "Military Hex Strat Games" were cool!

Virtual Console Mondays continue.

What's with platform holders not telling what will be available for download until the day of (or day before)? Shouldn't these Virtual Console Mondays or Xbox Live Wednesdays be marquee events in the weekly PR push? This week's list includes Legend of Zelda: A Link to the ... oh, wait, no it doesn't. There's, uh, one Nintendo first party game on the Virtual Console list for this week, Tennis. The other two games come from the Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx 16, respectively.

Well I think this is pretty slim pickin's. However with Monday being Virtual Console Day I expect big things over the next two weeks. I can't believe Nin would have Christmas and New Year's Day come without giving us something really special. I'm just not understanding why they can't add in multiplay over the Net. It's got to be the simplest subroutine ever to drop into the Wii to have it link up for an 8-bit game. That would give people a reason to buy the old games over since some of us (and I know there's not alot of us but still) have our NES's, Genny's, and TG16's (well, maybe not TG's) still up and in running condition. I can't be the only one, can I? |

I love TJ&E (the first one only) but I'm hoping for something special like a Mario Lost Worlds thing. You know, something that not everybody got before or some critically acclaimed game (like maybe Snatcher) that they can get to everyone now due to the help of the Internet.
If we don't take advantage of our leaps in technology then it's a waste to even have them.
Of course WHEN the WII Gameboy/DS player comes out, I will be first on line. |

It's official...
Christmas day will be a VC Christmas!
Toejam, Street Fighter II and Castlevania!

Four VC titles coming on Monday, none free, though.
By Luke Smith, 12/21/2006
Yesterday we guessed that these five games could be coming to the Virtual Console next week. There was a way to use the Firefox browser to hack the Internet and see Virtual Console game pages. Today, Nintendo announced that there would be five games coming on Monday, but only three from the previous report made it for Christmas.
Super Mario Bros. for the NES will be available on Christmas Day for 500 points along with some of the other "leaked" titles. Toejam & Earl for the SEGA Genesis and the Turbografx 16's R-Type will both unwrap on Christmas day on the Virtual Console. Instead of Urban Champion and Dungeon Explorer, however, gamers will be able to play a couple of other sorta decent games (/sarcasm). Nintendo's Virtual Console Christmas continues with a pair of Super Nintendo games: Street Fighter II: The World Warrior and Super Castlevania.
On New Year's Day, both Baseball and Urban Champion will be made available -- we're hoping there's one more surprise lobbed in there, though. If you're keeping track at home, that's 33 titles already populating the Virtual Console lineup. Sheesh.
Full pricing details for the holiday lineup are below:
December 25
# Super Mario Bros: 500 points, NES
# Toejam & Earl: 800 points, SEGA Genesis
# R-Type: 800 points, Turbografx 16
# Street Figher II: The World Warrior 800 points, SNES
# Super Castlevania: 800 points, SNES
January 1
# Urban Champion: 500 points, NES
# Baseball: 500 points, NES |
