YEAH! go Sperrit. Terin, just keep your chin up! They'll eventually leave you alone about it, just keep feeling good about yourself =)

Well, you know a lot about nutrition. How do you feel about mercury contaminants in fish, and what would be your recommended fish/seafood consumption?

That's a tough one Scrummy. The best fish you can get for you, nutritionally and de-contaminate-wise, is wild-line caught salmon, especially from the northwest (which is where I live!) Can be kinda expensive, though, but salmon, due to their life-cycle and perfered enviroment, are usually some of the safer fish. Other than that, for convenience I recomend Tuna from a Can. Chicken of the Sea is good stuff, probably one of the best out there, and it's very safe and high in Omega-3 fatty acids, which are fabulous for heart, artery, joint, and digestive health. If there's anything I'd recomend to everyone, it's eat more fish, salmon being the best choice, whitefish and tuna being second. You can also get Omega-3's from Walnuts, which is a great snacking option.

Most items have Omega-3 added to them now. GLEE! Like peanut butter and this loaf of bread I just bought the other day. Mmmm multigrain.

Hey Ryan, I know I've been a source of the flying about of opinions at some time. I understand your frustrations and know what you mean about all the negativity. I know I'm trying to work with that in my own way and trying to create a much more healthy exchange of ideas and thoughts when it comes to people I care for.

Just keep your chin up. I think you are wonderful and it's hard sometimes to stay positive. As long as you keep up your way of thinking you should be fine. Anyone telling you that being a veg*an (I hope I used that correctly, Scrum) is just trying to bust your balls and think (falsely) that meat = man.

;] Off topic?

But yeah, I think another important thing to mention is to perhaps keep your identity independent of your opinions. Especially if your opinions are shakey. Although I get called a hippie all the time (perhaps it has to do with my wardrobe), I only joke when I refer to myself a hippie. I am Angela, plain and simple (or not so XD).

Update us on your May! Very Happy

I'd heard that NW salmon was the best =D yay for the PNW XD Thanks for the info! <3 I'll be sure to pass it on.

oh yesh, you probably knew this, but just to toss in, flax seed is a good source of omega-3s and can be tossed easily into salads and stir-fries =D

I always believed in the live and let live idea. If ya wanna dress up a Minnie Mouse in your own home and sing show tunes do it. It aint nobody elses business but your own. Unfortunately if ya throw it out there and/or tell someone else they should do it, they tend to get annoyed. I guess it comes down to everyone thinks they have the best idea on how to run their own life, and thinks you should do the same.

I am with grallik. If you voice your opinions it opens the door for them to voice theirs. Really it would be unfair to expect them not to.

Something in human nature we just have to get used to.

You're serious?

You have a problem with people badgering you about vegetarianism? I dunno..I went the way of the vegetable a month or two ago and I don't get any flack. I'm thinking if you didn't announce to everyone at one time about being a vegetarian and bring a diet book with you EVERYWHERE you go including training meetings you wouldn't catch as much flack. I certainly don't.

If you don't want people to bitch at you for any descision you make in your life don't tell them about it. You aren't trying to SHARE your lifestyle with them so they don't need to know about it. Unless you're actively trying to convert someone to something you probably shouldn't engage them in any debate over anything.

I guess that is pretty much why I'm bulletproof. Things don't bother me cause anything I believe in I keep to myself unless you're an imediate friend and an Atheist and I like you to know how much God hates you. hehehe

Granted, I'll rape your ass till it bleeds with shit and puss over something political I believe in. For the vegetarian lifestyle I can give two shits over anyone knowing about it.

Here's a life hint for everyone:
You can SHARE your events in life. You cannot SHARE your personal decisions unless you are willing to bear the burden of rebuddal.

Okay, while it is true that if you don't tell anyone, then they won't bother you about it, but sometimes it just comes up in conversation, or somebody offers you something that you cannot eat, or somebody finds out and tells everybody else and then they all come after you about it.

When I was doing the apprenticeship at the tattoo shop, one of the first things out of Matt's mouth when he was introducing me to people was "She's a vegetarian!" and of course after that, there wasn't anything I could do to keep them from pestering me about it. At first I defended myself, then they said I was being "preachy," thinking that I was trying to convert them or something, when in all truth I just wanted them to understand where I was coming from. I learned quickly to change the subject or avoid it whenever they tried to start it up.

When others are judgmental of your lifestyle, sometimes you feel the need to let them know that you're not an idiot, that you know what you're doing, or that you have good reasons for doing what you do. There seems to be this stigma that veg*ns are unhealthy, or that there are better ways to diet, or that they're just plain "wrong." And when someone tells you that you're wrong, you have the right to tell them why you're not. It's not saying that your lifestyle is better than theirs, it's an attempt to clear up a negativity.

Right but you don't think you're bringing it upon yourself when you carry a diet book with you everywhere you go?

It's the same as a comic book, if you carry it to work people ask you why you're reading a comic book and they tell you why Marvel is better than DC...At which point I stab them...But still you bring it upon yourself when you announce to a room of people you hate salads and you're a vegetarian. You don't hate salads you hate LETTUCE you still like salads just with spinach instead of lettuce.

You can defend yourself about anything till the cows come home and people are going to keep pounding at you because it irks you. And genetically people like to cheese other people off. However if you're like me and you ask me about my diet I say, "I'm doing it because I have high blood pressure and I hate fish and fastfood places only serve fried chicken so vegetarinism keeps me out of them." If they have a further response I stare at them and they go away.

I'm not tryin to be cruel to Terin but he works in an environment of geeky bastards. And what do geeky bastards do? They find a weakness and exploit it. We all do it. However geeky bastards do it to your face.
