The Simpsons bases their cartoons around deep rooted philosophical thinkings.
It is also written by Harvard graduates.
The Simpsons is designed to parody real life in a way that is endearing to people.
Family Guy is is non-sensical fart jokes written by 5 drunk/high guys sitting around a table that take all their ideas from the past so that people don't really laugh as much as say "Sh*t I remember that!"
While Family Guy is funny eventually they will run out of references from the past and the show will end because the writers can't formulate an episode with a singular plot in mind. |

By the way, I just wanted to clarify that I'm not saying that Family Guy ISN'T funny. I actually like Family Guy very much. I just think that credit needs to be given where it's due. Family Guy probably wouldn't exist if it wasn't for The Simpsons, and I just think it's really unfair to make the claim that "The Simpsons was never funny". |
