Men, Women, and IQ

Actually, there is no correrlation between the "white" and "grey" matter among male and female brains. Also, based off that logic, you would require an increased amount of grey matter to accomadate the increase of white matter or else the increased interconnectivity that the white matter provides would be wasted. The only thing a disproportionate amount of white matter would do is make it easier to recover from brain damage. Then again, brain mass in proportion to intelligence has been considered a weak correrlation at best.

Creativity is tough to gauge since that would start falling in the the "Nature vs Nurture" debate that has been raging since the start of psychology. One thing that is true though, is creativity and intellegence is found in equal numbers among males and females. A large amount of "intellectual preference" between males and females is very much a cultural thing (Genetics gives you the raw potential, but cultural focus shapes how it is utilized).

I feel like we're tossing about information here while avoiding the subject.

This is about perceived intelligence, not actual. However, actual intelligence patterns could be used to explain this phenomenon of men thinking they are smarter than women.

Well, you have men in population who are trying to be evolutionarily successful. To do that, they must not only live, but reproduce. And apparently men's IQ's are not a bell curve, but skew to the right and left, abandoning the center. In the competition to reproduce, having a higher intelligence is a good thing, that men want to flaunt their intelligence off to women because she'll choose him as her mate. Because if he is as intelligent or more intelligent then her, then they will be successful and spawn successful offspring.

This is all well and good if you have a high IQ, but what about the other men who don't? They will still compete, and probably by pretending to have high IQ's. Maybe try to over compensate in front of women?

Holy Mod, I'm not trying to be one of the lower intelligence males making everyone think I'm smarter right now am I? Because I've got as little idea as the rest of you, and I just used a bunch of big words that when I reread my response come off as a little pompous to me.

I think males with a lower IQ tend to compensate by being successful in other ways (strong back, weak mind). Generally, trying to fake "smart" works about as well as trying to pass off glass gem cuts as diamonds. If you are talking to other people who don't know any better it works.

Reverend based off your comment, it is not up to the likes of me. I think it is up to the women. For what it's worth, I think you are a fairly sharp individual.
