I see what you mean, there simply isn't enough evidence for one to open up the eye. Once more incidents occur then they will start to consider new ways.

Edit: Oh I almost forgot the matter of them probabaly saying something more along the lines of this: "we are sorry for what happend, however these bats are super cheap and save us money, who the hell cares if you get hit in the face."

Did you even read that part of the article? The use of these bats has nothing to do with price...it's the players' preference. Gaaz pretty much spelled out why they use this type of bat.

Switching bats wasn't my point, my point was that there was an accident involving a baseball bat and a women jaw, when she asked for assistance it was immediately denied in a totally unprofessional manner. "No we won't help you and further were not going to pay for any damage, we are not even going to apologize." all that can be said with the words " so what shit happends, it sux." which means that the world we are living in is turning to ruble because we are becoming to apathetic to care at all.

Again, did you read this part of the artcle?

Article wrote:
“No way, no how, no way would they cover it,” Ghaleb says. “The adjuster was professional, but they would never consider helping anybody with their medical bills. It’s tough luck and you assume the risk.”

The guys says that they were professional, and I HIGHLY doubt that a professional sports team would not AT LEAST apologize for something like this happenening. And it's really not about people being apathetic, it's about one party protecting themselves from abuse from the others. Does this woman have a legitimate reason to seek aid in paying her medical bills? Absolutely. But like I said earlier, if the team pays for her bills, they have to pay for everyone's. Have you noticed that the world we live in is sue-crazy? Can you imagine what would happen if the MLB or the Dodgers paid this woman's medical bills. I can just imagine....

"I tripped on the stairs in the stadium and sprained my ankle. Give me a million dollars."

"I stubbed my toe on the seats. I want a million dollars too."

"I got heartburn from eating too many ballpark hot dogs. Where's my million?"

"My kid didn't catch a foul ball and now he's emotionally scarred. Give me some money."

And on and on, it continues to spiral out of control. So while this particular woman's situation sucks, the team and the MLB DO have rights also.

I'm guessing theres diifferent bat manufacturers like there is with pretty much every other piece of sporting equipment, yes? and that again, like with other sporting equipment, these companies sponsor the players to use their equipment? if so then it could be a fault with that particular brand of bats, so I'm thinking that the bat manufacturer could be made to pay any kind of medical bill?

However, I'm not a baseball fan so I don't know how the business side of the sport works.

Ming: those kind of things and getting hit with a bat in the face are two different things. not only two different but "TOO" different. I'm saying if more accidents like the one that happend to this lady happens, it would be the responsible thing to do. Stubbing your toe, more then likely not worth digging in your pocket over. serious damage like this one, yes help out. But only serious ones. You can still help out without having shit spiral out of control.

Riva: Who knows, I don't know what would be wrong with using aluminum bats. I've seen it done, if stronger wood hurts your hands to swing, how about wearing some batting gloves. There are other ways around using that bat brand.

You seem to be forgetting that we live in a country where a woman spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully got money out of McDonald's as a result.

Ah I forgot that one, i guess stupidity does come into play in these situations
I just can't see taking a stumped toe to court if it was your clumsiness.

From what I gather, the McDonald's lady got something between $500-600k. Not millions, mind you, but still an unreasonably high amount for something that should be common sense. And as a result, every single coffee cup that you look at or will ever look at will have a little blurb written on it that conveniently reminds you how ridiculous the whole situation is...and that your beverage is hot. Which is enough to keep McDonald's or anyone else from ever having to pay some idiot who spilled coffee on himself again. Much like the stadiums and tickets have warnings on them that you may be hit with some flying object while in attendance.

I can honestly say that if there is such a warning on seats that the people in this part of the world are blind. And don't take into account that the environment and setting your in has a lot to do with it. If we got so bad to where warnings are needed on seats, is there any hope for us left? LOL

But I guess it's only natural, that when excited you don't really tend to pay attention to much else besise what your excited about, hard to think about other things.

The weaker wood is used because it is lighter and can therefore be made into a wider diameter bat and gives the batter better control of where they hit the ball... The downside of them is that they break more easily, which wastes most of the rest of the energy of the swing.

Some of the really good home-run hitters still use the better style for the better energy transfer profile and lower drag from smaller diameter. It's mostly noobs who use the light wood bats so they can at least get a hit.

My girlfriend's mom caught a whole bat to the head at a game a few years ago... She got it signed and sold it for much more than she could have reasonably sued out of the team.

Remember, coffee lady only got a few hundred when everything was said and done. Her wasted time could have been better spent selling lemonade on the street side.

and also the ignorant who 'cannot' think

I am a fan of sports....when i am playing them. i just cannot bring myself to go to a major sporting event now as i am not interested in the teams, would rather watch the people in the stands, and frankly have other things to dump my $ into. plus i don't like being around rowdy drunks... brings back memories of high school drunk duty and a few fights i am trying to forget.
