Okay okay so war is a very very nasty bad thing, but is this really a war? The allies advance, Iraqis surrender. They fire a few scuds, most are shot down, the rest miss. The only casualties the allies have incurred so far are because we crashed our own helicopters. I think I'm being a realist when I say there is no real chance of any kind of attack on the US by iraq. Think saddam would fire a nuke at the US? Think saddam even HAS a nuke? Hell, if Saddam had a nuke, he'd have a) used it by now or b) declared he had it in the hope of scaring the hell out of the US. Look at Korea. They're developing nuclear weapons technology in clear breach of UN regulations, and broadcasting it proudly to the world. And look who we're attacking - surprised? I hesitate to even call it a "war"....war usually involves both sides fighting....

In my most politically correct and humanitarian voice, I will say "I hope Saddam goes to hell and burns to death horribly while the iraqi people (who are welcoming US troops with celebrations in the streets as we speak) enjoy the liberation they've deserved for 20 years of his tyrannical and sadistic rule."

I think that people are just overreacting also. School's have been cancelling trips for fear of terrorist attacks. My girlfriend's sister was telling me that her school cancelled a trip that her class was supposed to take because they were afraid. They were taking a week long trip to a sleepaway camp in the woods of Massachussetts. Come on now! Do these idiot schools REALLY believe that the terrorists' list of priorities are:

1. World Trade Center
2. Statue of Liberty
3. Group of twenty-seven 13 year olds in the woods

Honestly, grow up...

And regarding oil and SUVs: My belief is that if gasoline prices rise significantly as a result of this war, anyone caught driving an SUV should be fined, and then promptly kicked in the ass.

Well... it's not that I don't agree with you Ming, but you have to admit that a group of twenty seven 13 year olds on a field trip getting bombed has MAJOR shock value. No, it's not a major symbol, but it would get people's attention in a BIG way.
