I'm too much of a free thinker. I've read various books (old and new Testament along with the Book of Job. I think thats apart of the christian religion) and I've come to the fact that the Christian God seems...well...a little bit of a snobby 6 year old. Not to bash anyone who is christian I for one don't care really. But to me it seems as if if it don't go his way whatever it is gets the shaft. By the way, not all demons are evil.

He'll love and protect you forever if you BELIEVE in him. You aren't being controlled.

On the contrary. To express this belief, you must adhere to the ten commandments, which, collectively, affect much of your life. Not that I have a problem with the Ten Commandments in and of themselves, in fact, I attempt to adhere to them in every aspect of my life. My problem is that you aren't doing it for your own self fullfilment or wellness. You're doing it because smoeone else has said that if you don't, you'll be consigned to eternal torture. It's like a twisted quid pro quo. If you don't believe in everything he does, says, and thinks, and dedicate your entire life to the support of his cause, you will be chained to a wall and put to the worst torture you can imagine. Now, I realize that's blowing it a little bit out of perspective, but my point still remains, doesn't that sound like control to you?

You also are supposed to, and it says this multiple times in the bible, spread the word of God and convert people to christianity. I simply cannot believe in an entity who actively wants and strives for complete rule over all of humanity. It's not a question of his reasons, be they good or bad. It's an assertion of my control over my own life. I will bow to no one, be they the savior of the human race, or its worst enemy, and it makes me angry to see people willingly giving over their control over their own life to someone who is, and even says that he/she/it is unknowable. If God is unknowable, then it is not possible to know his reasons for wanting to control humanity. I do not know whether or not He states them in the bible, but even if he does, there is no reason to believe that those are the actual reasons. It could be anything. We, as a race, could, simply by existing, be the only thing standing between Him and complete subjigation of reality, and every day, millions, possibly billions of us bow to him as though he was our only hope.

Now, I realize that most of that will sound ridiculous to anyone who is religious, but it makes perfect sense to me. Realize, though, what you're reading is stream of consciousness, I'm writing the first things that come into my mind on the subject. It's not fully thought out, nor do I expect it to make sense to everyone, but think about the fact that all, all of my writing is done the same way. And that seems to come out quite well, don't you think?

Anyway...Happy New Year!

Christianity doesn't teach bending to the will of God, it teaches repentance, and good relationships, both with God, and fellow man. Christianity is hard, not because of schedule turned habit, or complexe dietary laws, but because you must work against what some might call human nature.

You must not only come to accept your enemies, but love them. You certainly can't, despite history, smite them.

anyway,

I was going to go on, but if you wont accept it, you wont accept it, and it's certainly not my place to judge you.

The Catholic church has lost its meaning.....I grew up catholic and went to a catholic school just like Nogrick did, and as soon as I got to high school I found the Catholic church to be all messed up. At my church the priest would go out on the weekends and drink. All he cared about was money and how he could get ahead in life. He lost the whole meaning of beening Catholic or beening a Christian. You don't have to go to church to speak with god, he is always there. No matter what religion you are "your" god or gods with be there when you need them.......

Thats just my point of view. Very Happy

Indeed I won't accept it, but I will apologize to all those whom I offended. When I let my mind go into high gear about something, it usually presents quite good lines of reasoning to whatever the problem might be, and it did so just fine, I think. The trouble with this, however, is that while I let my mind spit out reasons for the problem, I am unable to actively think about how these spttings out might affect other people. So, again, I apologize. I still hold to my reasoning up there, but I apologize.

Case in point: That whole stupid thing going on in Israel. They can't do it peacefully, as their gods would no doubt want them to, according to doctrine--NO SIR! They have to carry out some stupid Holy War against each other.

Now, I understand that in Jihaad according to the Qu'ran, you're not supposed to harm women or children, but Israeli women are getting killed. Israeli children are being hurt. GET A FREAKING CLUE!

Its not quite my god is stronger,
It’s more of
"My religions interpretation of god and his teachings are right"
"No ours is"
"No OURS is"

Then they proceed to carry out wars and atrocities in gods name, when they have completely hidden agendas behind their actions.

Because Islam catholic and Judaism all derive from the same god.

The problem with Israel is the dome of the roc, which is one of the holiest sites in Islam, all well and good. BUT it was built over the site of the holiest site in Judaism. So there is a reason there is a war over it, but like you said it still goes against the teachings of both religions.

Also a Jihad is a completely defensive holy war meant to be carried out in defense of Islam only
