*performs CPR on thread* LIVE! LIVE DAMN YOU LIIIIIIIIVE! *hears heartbeat* yaay! *teh thread is revived*

any of you AFI-loving peoples members of the Despair Faction?

i was introduced via a late-night showing on MTV of Days of the Phoenix... and was stunned. but then the tag with the song name and artist and all that wasn't there. Crying or Very sad so i had to figure it out myself! ^_^

and have any of you picked up the newest CD? at first i was disappointed but it really has grown on me. especially The Interview and 37mm.

I'm an avid fan (being as I started the thread), but not a member of Despair Faction.

I have their new album, and I agree, it really has to grow on you. I would have to say that my favorite songs on it are Miss Murder and Love Like Winter.

As much as I still really love the newer AFI stuff, I am finding that I prefer the older stuff, before they evolved into a more goth sound. Their first two albums, "Answer That and Stay Fashionable" and "Very Proud of Ya" are phenomenal, and very very punk. If you don't have them yet, I would suggest picking them up.

I love their new CD actually....though I'm not sure if I prefer it to Sing the Sorrow or not.

And yeah, Love Like Winter is my favorite on their new album as well! Very Happy!

i definately have all 7 CDs. Smile plus the All Hallows and AFI EPs. if i get that call back from those people at the yard sale i went to with a $5 turntable, i'll start collecting the vinyl too. i can't decide what's my fave album. i like Answer That and Stay Fashionable, Very Proud of Ya, and Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes but i they're for my punk moods. for just anytime listening, i'll bring out the other four (Black Sails in the Sunset, The Art of Drowning, Sing the Sorrow, or Decemberunderground). (album titles given for the uninformed)

favorite song and video? Days of the Phoenix is my favorite song, but i like the Love Like Winter video better. Smith is teh awesome - in fact, my absolute favorite hand actor. =^_^=

have you ever had a chance to meet the AFI family? gotten/planning any tattoos?

I'm a fan, but I won't get a tattoo. As much as I might enjoy their (or anyone's) music, I think getting a tattoo of a band is a bit extreme for me. Maybe if the music moved me so much as to create some immense life-altering experience, which hasn't happened, nor do I believe will ever happen.

As far as favorite songs go, I have a few. The ones that instantly come to mind are Brownie Bottom Sundae, File 13, Halloween, and Fall Children. I also REALLY like their cover of "The Hanging Garden" by the Cure.
