Other manufactureres have discovered that the hybrid engine allows for faster acceleration, thus using the engine to improve permormance as opposed to fuel economy. That, and they are also able to market to a group that looks for fuel economy. These people are being scammed for sure. Thus proving that one should always do their research before throwing good money after bad.
And I do recall mentioning that you won't make back the innitial cost output. But hey, you never know the way gas prices keep going up!
And just as an FYI, I have seen my mechanic work on these vehicles. He is AAA certified with a perfect record. He has all his certs in place and I would trust him with my mode of transport issues over just about anyone in the world.
We were watching a show on one of the education channels the other day that had a story about fuel alternatives. One of the groups was actually from a depressed economy area and had modifed a vehicle to perform running on vegetable oil. With modification, the vechilce out-preforms many new cars today. They are currently procurring the hybrid system to add to this vehicle and are expecting great improvement above what has already been done with the alternate fuel. I am interested in seeing the results! |
I've actually seen a lot of emergency vehicles in Georgia using vegetable oil as fuel. Ambulances mainly. This is a real solution I think and should be expanded on. It's a shame that it will go so slow. |

Shadow that my friend is known as the modified military diesel. Runs on just about anything combustable.
Also my dealership doesn't charge whatever they want to fix things, most dealerships don't. Labor hours is generally calculated at most dealerships at 1.5x warrenty hours for most jobs and if its a huge pain in the ass job its generally around 2x. And Warrenty hours suck, you generally loose money doing them unless your like super uber good at doing whatever the warrenty work that your doing are gunna lose money doing it. In otherwords I hate warrenty work.
Also as far as the prius goes it and the escape hybrid are the only two vehicles that are actual gas savers. They are actually an electric drivetrain with internal combustion engine assistance and charging. |

Gas Prices Taking Toll
So people are beginning to compensate for the increasing fuel costs by spending less. So, as a result of the gas prices increasing, our economy is being hurt. Economics is such an interestings subject...but I digress... |
This is an interesting concept. Do you think anyone will do anything about it, like lower prices?? |

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but I just paid $3.27 for gas and I figured I should share with everyone.
Seriously..what's the excuse now? At the beginning of the summer the hike was because the refineries were switching to "summer gas". So are they switching back to "winter gas" now? Does seasonal gas even exist? Because this is the first time that I've ever heard of different gasses for different seasons...
I keep hearing on the news every morning how people are spending less and our economy is slowing down. At this point, I hope it comes to a crashing halt and people stop buying crap altogether because it's either a) Buy shit or b) Put gas in my car. And maybe then someone will step in and assassinate some high ranking oil official and stop the bullshit. |

i need to change to a biodiesel. lets face it...what is more american than to use what is esentially fattening and turn it into a fuel supply? Hell the better performing stuff is the previously used stuff and driving off in a truck that sprays fry or burger scent is just a nice finger in the eye of people who hate transfats.... |

Gas is $3.15/g here at cheapest. And heating fuel is for the first time in Maine history over $3.00/g.

In Brazil they have cars that run on sugar. They have also negated their dependency on foreign oil.
The excuse for higher gas prices now is because the dollar is worth less than a Canadian dollar since they started going away from foreign oil dependence.
If American would allow offshore drilling within 50 miles of the coast and exploration for oil in nature preserves we too could be independent but apparently fish, views, and trees are more important than families deciding on whether to buy food, gas, or medicine. |
