So with only one week left in this incredibly odd season... most of the playoff picture has been decided...

But not all.

AFC
1. Colts (AFC South Division Champs)
(1st round bye and home field advantage for all playoffs)
2. Broncos (AFC West Division Champs)
(1st round by and home field advantage for 1st playoff game)

3 and 4 seeds...

The Bangals (AFC East Champs) can clinch the #3 seed with a win against Chiefs.

The Pats (AFC North Champs) can clinch the #3 seed with a win over the 'Fins AND a Bangals loss to the Chiefs.

5. Jags (Wild Card)

6 seed...

The Steelers can clinch the final AFC playoff spot with a win over the Lions OR a Chiefs loss to the Bangals OR a Chargers win against the Broncos

The Chiefs can clinch the final AFC playoff spot with a win over the Bangals AND a Steelers loss to the Lions AND a Chargers loss to the Broncos

The NFC picture is a lot more complicated. I'm not even sure how the seeding will go ... but only the first 2 are wrapped up. Everything else has yet to be determined.

NFC
1. Seahawks (NFC West Champs)
(1st round bye and home field advantage for all playoffs)
2. Bears (NFC North Champs)

The only other definate thing is that the Giants are in the playoffs. Neither the East or the South have been won yet...
Here's what we have...

NFC East
~The Giants have clinched a playoff spot.
~The Giants can clinch NFC East with:
A win against the Raiders
A Redskins loss against the Eagles

~The Redskins can clinch the NFC East with:
A win against the Eagles AND a Giants loss to the Raiders
~The Redskins can clinch a playoff spot with:
A win against the Eagles
A Cowboys loss to the Rams

~The Cowboys can clinch a playoff berth with:
A win against the Rams AND a Redskins loss to the Eagles
A win against the Rams AND a Panthers loss to the Falcons
A win against the Rams AND a Bucs loss to the Saints AND a Giants loss to the Raiders

confusing huh?
It gets better...

NFC South

~The Bucs can clinch the NFC South with:
A win against the Saints
A Panthers loss to the Falcons
~The Buccaneers can clinch can clinch a playoff berth with:
A Cowboys loss to the Rams
A Redskins loss to the Eagles
A Giants win against the Raiders

~The Panthers can clinch the NFC South with:
A win against the Falcons AND a Bucs loss to the Saints
~The Panthers can clinch a playoff spot with:
A win against the Falcons
A Cowboys loss to the Rams
A Redskins loss to the Eagles

Hurray for playoff confusion.

So with that said... what do you think is going to happen

and/or

What do you think of what has happened so far this season.

I will make my comments in a second post.

Here's my thoughts on the seeding.

AFC

Pats...
The Pats are hot right now. They beat Miami.

Bangals...
The Bangals are good. But the Chiefs are at home and haven't lost at home in Dec in years. Plus they are fighting for their post season lives. Bangals lose to the Chiefs.

Steelers...
C'mon... Steelers vs Lions... In Pittsburg? Steelers kill them. and get the last playoff spot.

Chiefs
Well... they will beat the Bangals and keep their Dec Home winning streak in tact. And the Broncos will rest a lot of their starters, so the Chargers will beat them... but hoping the Steelers will lose to the Lions ... at home ... that is just a little too much to ask.

1. Colts
2. Broncos
3. Pats
4. Bangals
5. Jags
6. Steelers

NFC

Giants
Giants beat the hopeless Raiders and Win the East

Bucs
Bucs beat the Saints and Win the South

Redskins
Redskins have been pretty good this year, and lets face it, the Eagles suck right now, but I think they have something to prove. They are in Philly... Redskins lose in an upset.

Cowboys
The Rams are coming to Dallas. Dallas is a good team that has been on the wrong side of a few close games this year. But Dallas is a hard town to play in (just ask the Broncos who barely pulled out a win on Thanksgiving). Cowboys win. Combined with the Redskins loss, they're going to the playoffs.

Panthers
The Panters need a win and a Bucs loss to the Saints. Let's face it, the Bucs aren't going to lose to the Saints. Not to mention that the Falcons and the Panthers have a long running rivalry since the Panters were formed. And to top that off, the Falcons are pissed b/c they were eliminated from the post season... Not to mention they are playing IN ATLANTA! Have you ever been to the Dome... holy crap. This is the LAST team the Panthers want to play when they are trying to win their division. Falcons beat the Panthers. But thanks to a Redskins loss, they go to the playoffs anyway.

1. Seahawks
2. Bears
3. Bucs
4. Giants
5. Cowboys
6. Panthers

So if my predictions all came true... (and I'm right about the seeding... which I'm probably not) this is what we would have in the playoffs.

The first week would be ...

AFC
Steelers at Pats
Jags at Bangals
Colts and Broncs have a bye

NFC
Panthers at Bucs
Cowboys at Giants
Seahawks and Bears have a bye

What do you think?

Stupid Falcons anyways no time to cry. I think it's the colts championship anyways no matter what happens. I'd like to see Colts Vs. Giants now Peyton Vs. Eli. That'll put some butts in the seats.

Yeah we didn't need the Love Boat sailing though the playoffs. What a disgrace. Sad that Farve is going out this way. One more playoff one would have ruled!

Well one of my predictions has come true already, and another (although still doesn't really affect my playoff picture) wasn't.

Yesterday on NYE, My Broncs beat the Chargers for the season sweep and to end up 13-3!!!

I was wrong about them playing their backups too. However, Jake the Snake didn't do much in the way of throwing. He mostly handed the ball of to the more than capable Denver Running Team of Bell, Anderson and Dayne. Unfortunatly, Bell came up short of his 1000 yard season by about 70 yards. If he would have gotten it, Anderson and Bell would have been only the 4th RB pair to both hit 1000 yards in the same season.

My 2nd favorite team, the Giants, also took down the Raiders... which I predicted. This clinched their spot as division winners.

Congrats Giants. I know Razer is happy. Smile

How wild would that be if Chicago took it? What do you think their chances are of going the whole way?

Honestly... not to good.

Their D is the best, but when you look at their schedule and their record... they have only played 6 game against teams that are over .500. And in those games... they are 3-3.

I do agree that anyone can score and defense wins... but the problem is the Bears can't score... so their Defense can get them only so far.

The will be playing teams with a much higher offensive rating them their own. And the difference between the Bears' D and the other Playoff teams' D, is a lot smaller of a gap from the Bears' O and the other Playoff teams' O

Outcome...

my predictions...

Games...

Pats over Miami...
Wrong. Maybe the Pats are not as much of a threat as initially thought.

Chiefs over Bengals
Correct... Bengals got their asses handed to them.

Steelers over Lions
Correct. No Doubt.

Chargers over Broncos
Incorrect... and I'm glad! Smile

Actual AFC Playoff seeding.

# Team (Prediction)

1. Colts
2. Broncos
3. Bengals (Pats)
4. Pats (Bangals)
5. Jags
6. Steelers

NFC

Giants over Raiders
Correct

Bucs over Saints
Correct

Eagles over Redskins
Incorrect. Well I guess chalk one up for the favored team.

Cowboys over Rams
Incorrect. Wow... never saw that one coming. Well... at least I was right there was going to be an upset.

Falcons over Panters
Incorrect. Actually ... the Falcons got raped!

1. Seahawks
2. Bears
3. Bucs
4. Giants
5. Panthers (Cowboys)
6. Redskins (Panthers)

So... I suck at predictions!

Anyway... here's the first playoff weekend.

Colts and Broncs have a bye

NFC
Panthers at Giants
Redskins at Bucs
Seahawks and Bears have a bye
