Given your standards I believe no such game will exist for you and many of us that is made by mortal hands. The facts present themselves...
Grinding is a constant in just about any MMO, so we know that will irk you to a degree. I think we can form a club on that....
Diversity will be as controlled as the developers decide. So it's always gonna be dissapointing too.
All elements your best bet, I have to agree with Hoth and his DDO suggestion. At least with DDO it has a foundation of history and principle that is D&D. Possibly |

From my recollection, Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind had a noticable lack of grinding. It was always helpful to kill small creatures on the paths to boost your weapon proefficiency, and grab small exp, but there was so much to do and so many places to go, you ended up gaining the levels you needed just by following the NPC quests.
I won't get it, but if Oblivion carries that tradition, it'll be a good game. |

Honestly.. Hoth hit it right on the head...
b/c you CAN'T grind in DDO. You don't get XP for killing creatures...just completing quests and missions from what I understand. |

Exactly. Like theres one quest where you literally protect the town from 100 kobalts. And they come in one huge friggen hoard. You dont get any xp for those 100 kobalts but you get xp for sucessfully completeing the quest. Which reminds me.. thats on my shopping list for this weekend too. |

To me, grinding means repeating pretty much anything over and over.
-In Lineage II, it was killing the same enemies for sometimes as much as four levels in a row.
-In Auto Assault, it was doing the same "kill ten of those guys" and "fetch me this" quest all the time under different names.
-In Ragnarok Online, it was re-doing the same boss as much as 50 times just to get a rare out of him in order to survive the next dungeon.
Let's put it this way: if it's in ProgressQuest, it's a grind. |
