Freetar proposes to be a freeware Guitar Hero-type clone for the PC. A PS2->USB game adapter even lets you use your GH guitar. You can load any music you like and use the included editor to create the notes. The editor appears to be pre-beta currently with the actual game soon to follow.
Keep tabs on this one, guys. Very, very cool.
