Just took a look at what http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3 has as far as pictures of the PS3, and to my surprise, it's black AND it's displayed with the familiar Dual Shock 2 controller we all know and love. What happened to the silver console and the boomerang?

That looks like a Dual Shock 2 controller but didn't they ditch the vibration feature? Personally I'm glad they don't have the boomerang as it looked like it would be somewhat awkward to me. ^^;; Totally different though from the first picks of the PS3 they showed. |

Yeah - they announced the controller design change all the way back at GDC, as I recall, and unveiled the "new" controller design at E3. Currently no indication that it'll have rumble, but it'll have this great new motion-sensing feature that they're apparently pushing *hard* now. Developers aren't coming out directly and saying it, but things that have been said point to Sony wanting even 3rd-party launch titles to make use of the tilt sensor. As far as the color, I have this feeling that the USA will get the black one only, while Japan will be able to get the PS3 in every color of the visible spectrum (so, pretty much exactly what was done with the PS2). |

I would have much prefered the boomerang. Looked really comfortable.
Yeah apparently the rumble is gone and the tilt is in, but in an interview with one of the guys that did warhawk, he says "the rumble is great" so I'm not really sure what's going on there.
The system was being planned in 3 colors... Black, "Pearl," and "Platinum." Not sure which ones we will see. |
