This is very cool. I don't play FPSs or anything, but I know a lot of people in the PC world that do, and this is big news!

Sony announced the news first at its E3 press conference yesterday, and today Midway confirmed it: Epic's Unreal Tournament 3 will be a PlayStation 3/PC exclusive for a little while. After the game is released in November, PS3 will be the only console it appears on until at least the end of 2007.
Another major boon for Sony: The confirmation that the PS3 version of UT3 will be able to run user-created content, including maps, custom game modes, and mods. This marks the first time that a seemingly PC level of diverse, user-generated game additions will be available on a home console. Epic Games vice president Mark Rein commented on the news:
"The game takes full advantage of the power of the PlayStation 3 system, and Unreal Tournament 3 will, for the first time, allow users to create robust user-created content, known as 'mods,' on the PC version and play them on the PlayStation 3 system. We're extremely excited about this, and we feel this will bring a level of creativity, innovation, and replayability not previously seen on home consoles."
An Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3 is, as far as we know, still in the works for sometime in 2008, but it's unclear whether that release will include the ability to use original, user-generated content. For more info on all of the fragging that awaits in UT3, check out 1UP's E3 preview. |

About time that things like this were possible. Considering how much the PS3 is a computer in its own right, one would think that making mod compatibility isn't that hard for console owners. |

Keyboard and Mouse will always reign supreme in FPS, so mod or not I'll still get it on PC. |
