This game is absolutely beautiful. I have just gotten through four absolutely huge levels and guess what? I'm only 14% done!!! the other thing is that there are no loading times! the entire thing is apparently mapped out as one huge level and then split into smaller groups! and the graphics are amazingly detailed; If you are standing directly infront of a wall and facing the wall and you fire a fully charged shot into the wall, you can see a reflection of samus' face off the inside of her helmet! when it's raining, you can actually see water droplets bouncing off of your gun! even the music is relatively quiet and unannoying, unlike some games I could mention...*cough*EVERGRACE!*cough*...all in all, those of you who have gamecubes absolutely MUST get this game!!! |

Yes, I agree, this game is simply amazing. Gameplay aside, which btw is spot on, the graphics are the best I've seen in any game to date. IMO it is game of the year, yes, even over the mighty GTA Vice City. Of course, considering I'm not a GTA fan in the least I may be somewhat biased. |

I think it's plainly obvious from my existance that I am, how you say, obsessed with this game.. And it rocks in a way only a Metrod game can.
And all the way thru 4 worlds areas? Hehehe... At 18%, I'd say you've got plenty more to discover in all those areas. I'm at 32%, 11-ish hours, and I'm still discovering new parts of each of the four areas, and just discovered my fifth huge area.
And let me say that some of these later bosses scare me immensely. Ah love eet!
Also, Lews, mainly what you mention as the cool parts of the game come from what alot of reviews say. There's more to the game than meets the eye. The face-reflection isn't just a little hidden goodie for blasting walls; infact, I'm seeing my face a LOT with enemies that constantly shoot streaming missiles at me, causing lots of light and lots of reflections.
And then another thing that makes the game incredible is the range of enemy intelligence. The least intelligent enemies are little mushrooms that sit on the ground and explode if you come near. Then there's the Zoomers that just go around.. and around.. and around platforms. Then there's some enemies that have reflexes if you come near. There's some enemies like the wasps that will attack you if you threaten their nests. There's the metroids which will attack you because you live. And then, full intelligent, are the Space Pirates. They will hide behind objects, blow up crates to get to you, retreat if they're losing. If there's a staircase or ramp between you when they see you, they'll run up the ramp or stairs rather than just get stuck behind a wall. They'll rush at you if you're retreating.. Yeah, those guys are almost too smart. Very fun to fight against. |

It's really the subtleties of this game that get me, like when you catch a reflection of Samus in her visor, or the X-Ray visor sees through your hand, or how rain will puddle on invisible platforms, or the way cold air "breathes" off the ice beam.
Get. This. Game. Now. |

I put this game on my X-mas wish list along with Sonic Mega Collection (Sonic, he can really move. Sonic, he's got an attitude! Sonic, he's the fastest thing alive!) and Rygar for PS2. But Metroid Headlined the list and I pointed out in a mag what the game looked like to my mother and sister so one of em will get it for me...MWAHAHA! |

This game wins the "Pretty" award. For being oh so pretty in every way. And then there's game play... and story... and feel... and mood... and music... and- THIS GAME IS JUST HARD CORE!
I'm done now.
