Ok so like the title says, check this crazy ass scanario. Currently I've been working at a local candy factory in birmingham, not to far from where I live about 3 to 4 miles away. I could walk there, pays good 8$ an hour. I love the job it's awesome I get to wear what ever the hell I want to wear to work, I get to check my email get on po, and other things at our shipping tables desk computer as long as work gets done as well. And So I am happy right. But wait I know what your thinking. But Kei if your so happy then why are you posting it in here? Well I'm about to get to that.

You guys know how I love to share my views and opinions on my beautiful japanese swords right? I mean you all saw me this year at awa with my best purchase yet in the nice wooden box. Well guess what, Apparently I can't share those type of discussions with the people at work, because they got offended by it they took it as threatening behavior and desided to suspend me and my 3 friends from work for 4 days, because they felt that by me and my friends sharing our views on weapons, and when I say sharing views I mean stuff like this here below.

"Hey Kenny, you know that katana I baught this year at awa?"
Kenny: "Yeah,."
Me: "Well next year I plan on getting two more just like it!"
Kenny: "Same kind or different kind?"
Me: "Hopefully some more paul chens."
Kenny: "Nice...!"

People in what state of mind is that considered threatening!? O_o?! We were conversing... There was no words mitioning of killing or stabbing or anything of that magnitude in that conversation, the most I do is talk about how beautiful they are and how much I apreciate quality swords, thier a work of art.

Can you guys see any logic at all as to why they suspended us from work?
We had a meeting today, on what went on, I wasnt there thursday when the suspention happend to take place, so I had no idea what happend, but apparently mentioning of ninjas and their stealthy assasination abilities and skills and those kinds of conversations have people quivering in their boots and clinging on to their lives. Oh and did I happen to mention yet that apparently poking a person can be considered harrasment and may result in them calling their husband to call you and threaten you. WTH is going on! He poked you, he has poked you before and you didn't say shit not even asking him to stop.

Can you guys see any logic in their decession to suspend us?

Ok well I can very well understand your situation. It's very much qorth a chuckle and all, but life has taught that there is always a constant that will never change.

People of questionable intelligence will freak at mention of weapons.

Either that or these people in question really have been looking for a reason to whine about something.

I'm reminded of the airplane scene from Anger Management. My guess is the person who reported it had ulterior motives, i.e. they don't like you or they were tired of listening to the convo. Yes, it was a cowardly thing to do, solving a problem on the lowest possible levelis often the best course of action. It's hard to believe that the people in an authoritive position would take that kind of action though. I cannot give any advice, but I understand where you're coming from.

That's absolutely rediculous! Although, totally believable. People these days are so emotionally fragile that they are barely able to leave they're homes for fear of being "offended" or, God help them "terrorized". The cowards are so afraid of even the smallest and most harmless of weapons that they are working to outlaw anything with a pointy end or sharp edge. Unfortunately the "cowards" are growing in number everyday. And their blind stupidity is boundless.

The first time I went to Iraq they wouldn't let us carry any nail clippers, knives, or even a multitool on the plane. Hello?!!! We're carrying automatic firearms!!! They don't understand that the right to bear arms has been what has kept this country safe.

But, I'm getting off topic. You're right Kei, these people are cowardly and ignorant and what they did to you and your friends is wrong.

If you really wanted to, you could fight it. Ask for management to show you where it is in the company rules of conduct that you cannot talk about weapons in the workplace. Suspending you for 4 days sound like an extreme action. Did they not try talking with you first? You could also ask for them to show you their "discipline cycle". Was this your first offense?

Either way, you have the right as an employee for them to tell you this.
If suspension is the normal action, then so be it...but 4 days for just having friendly conversations with other interested parties, doesn't sound right.

I agree with Fawkes here. That is an extreme course of action for what would probably be deemed in no court house as threatening. Ask them about why they felt compelled to take actions so strong when the conversation had is considered, and ask about the discipline cycle.

Is this a limited liability job, where you signed at the beginning of your time there that you could quit for any reason at any time, and they could let you go for any reason at any time? If not, I would look through my contacts to see if I know anybody involved in law. I'm not suggesting suing the factory, but I am suggesting knowing where you stand legally should anything ever come of these extreme disciplinary actions.

Yeah, I'd say your best bet would be to let them know they're behaving stupidly, and to break ties with them until they clean up their acts.

Believe me, the age has little to do with it. 90% of my college campus is just as bad. Guys don't tend to get their heads on straight until around 25 ^_-

Yeah, there are some exceptions to the rule. My best friend is another, and according to most, Chris is another.

. But, literally, immaturity is the reason I didn't date much in high school..or college...or anytime before the past two years. xD
