Building an MMORPG

I am working on creating a MMORPG that utilizes Java Applets as the interface. Allowing the end user to access the game from any computer that supports java applets. This allowing the user to not have to download any software beyond the java engine onto their computer.

After researching I heard that there was an issue with using transparent .gifs and that it chopped the animation up and sucked up quite a bit of resources.

Upon seeing some of the applets designed on the internet I believe I can still use this as the main option for programming.

What I am trying to do is allow the Java Applet on the page call up tables in a mySQL database and run a SNES graphically pleasant format for the game. Examples of what I am looking for are Breath of Fire 1 or 2 or FF 4,5,6. If anyone has any thoughts comments or suggestions please let me know. I can be contacted via this forum, my aim, or my email.

The alternative to this is to program the entire thing in C++ and make sure I have my cgi Libraries correct to allow web based access without having to download anything on the local machine.

Yay.. well after much thinking yesterday I figured out how to make the maps for this game. Just need to convert the Hoth language into an actual programming language that works. Now I get to figure out the picture type and how to pull the picture from something to something else. whoo hoo!

Well there is a lot to come up with and develope. So I will keep you all posted. Additionally I need to make everything in 32x32 pixel images.. such as characters and such. Which takes up all kinds of time. Im hoping to become more than a one man army for this so any help given will be much appreciated. Let me know if you are interested.

I could probably do some of the pixle drawings. I'm not realy good, but i could do some of the grunt work, like objects and enemies. I'd love to help.
