A shot. Like a medical shot.
Not really...
Oh what ever!

I got a shot today.
AND ITīS ALL YOUR FAULT!!

Feals good to scream a bit...

I am going to travel to USA next year. And not only on a short vaccation. For quite some time.
Therefore I needed to do a Skintest to check if I have Tuberculosis. Fairly simple.
You put a small amount of vaccin under the skin. Not your normal shot straight into the arm. The vaccin is place under the skin and is laying there for three days and if the reaction is to small I donīt know what happens and if it is to big.
I have Tuberculosis.I really hope that isnīt the case.

I am not afraid of needles. They sting a little. So what?
The creepy part is the sensation of some liquid being forced into ones arm.

And me being tall and thin, my blood pressure drops like a rock.
So I have to lay down for a while and drink some water.

All evening I have been figheting around not able to sit still. So I really need to write and tell to get it out of my system.
So... Anyone of you have traveld somewere intressting getting shots for odd diseaces?

(Wait. It isnīt in my system itīs in my freaking arm! Guh! *walks around the appartment*)

When my family moved to Panama, we had a full run. Tetanus, Yellow Fever, a couple others. Then when I went to college, I had to get that same TB test - my mother was there smiling at me, saying "I let my students practice this on me all the time" - my response, through gritted teeth, was akin to "That, dear mother, is because you are a loony".

I don't mind needles, but damn do I hate shots.

A TB test isn't that big of a deal. There are 2 kinds of tests for that. One, where they just take this little tool of sorts and poke your arm..if you have a reaction, then you get treated for TB.

The other kind is the one you got, and I personally hate that kind. One of the nurses at my doctor did that one to me in high school where she did it wrong, causing me to have a false positive. But they didn't care and forced me to take medication for it for 6 months. It was an easy treatment (just pills) but it still made me mad.

Just keep an eye on it and don't touch it. If you touch it, it may cause bruising that will make it look like a positive result. If you don't have any reaction, then you're fine. But the crappy catch to it all is that if you've been exposed to TB, you may test positive and not even have it.

But the good part to it all is that if you ever do test positive, you'll never have to take that test again b/c it will always be in your system.

Had a flu vaccine once, and it wasn't so much the shot that did it. The vaccine itself was a totally different story. It hurt like crazy as it started it's way into my system to the point I either yelled very loud or collapsed. Very Happy

I hate needles! I used to do everything in my power not to get shots. Unfortunately I can't get around it anymore. I've had every shot under the sun in the last couple of years. Everything from Anthrax to Yellow Fever. You name it, I've been pumped full of it. The funny thing is, I never used to get sick before they started giving me shots.

Chickens? No sorry.
I can think of chicken when getting a shot.

The only thing I think of when I look away is that I am getting a shot and should not think about it. But I look away at least.

People think im crazy, but it helps me if i look at the shot, it helps me relax, an know when to expect the pain. Also, its a bit easyer for me to detach myself and think of it as a learning experiance. (i want to know how everything looks and works, even shots) yeah i know, im weird. but, im much better than i used to be, when i was a kid, it would take both my parents and 3 nurses to give me a shot. both my parents and 2 nurses would sit on my limbs while the 3rd gave me the shot. all the while i would be screaming and flailing, and making the general public think i was being murdered. Smile

I've always hated needles, shots, and having blood drawn. I was a sick kid and was poked and prodded by the doctor and nurses.

I got really offended once when I was in HS and the stupid pediatric nurse insisted that I sit on my hands while she gave me a shot (she was used to 3-year olds swatting at the needle so naturally I was going to do the same, gawd)...I had to stick w/ my doc till I was 18...it was not a fun experience in those latter years.

Now all I ever have to get is a flu shot...not so bad but I just hate how they burn.
