New Need For Speed? - Uh oh...

Electronic Arts announced Need for Speed Underground is under development, the game is responed by the Hot Pursuit 2 team, and it is coming to PS2, GameCube, Xbox and GameBoy Advance in early 2004. The game will feature 20 licensed cars.

Damn, there goes the rest of my money...and free time. Guess I'd better use the next 8-10 months to try to have a life. LOL

I'll take my chances. I've been living on this series since the first. I even forced myself to play the Porsche Challenge version. God, was that the worst game ever or what?

It better be better then the Hot porcuit 2 ... NFS HP2 had:

1. Sucky replays (the worst replays of all the NFS serie, really ...)

2. No Day and night feature (what the hell that's a down-grade form previous version, NFS3 and 4 had that, and it was cool)

3. No weather effect (MAJOR down-grade)

4. Not much tracks (I think that the old NFS2 had more tracks then that, or at least just as lil)

5. Crapy damage modelisation (I think the best was in NFS 4)

6. Very short replay value (compared to the other games is just too easy, )

7. Where's the traffic? I remember having fun in NFS 1 stoping in the middle of the road, causing a traffic jam and then my friend would ram into the cars making a way cool accident.

8. So-so music, I prefer the NFS hot porsuit 1 music, but I understand they tried to give a new style to the game with that kind of music (I like the intro movie tho)

I remember on hte first need for speed, when it came out I was working for a game store then too, and we would actually not see who would get the fastest times, but who could get the best wrecks! AH MAN that was teh best!

and as for me, I hump cop cars with my hot rod, and still get away from them and win the race.

No, the real fun is getting the cops to chase you and then juking so that they slam into oncoming traffic or lightposts. Then you go back and watch them smoke and cry "I'm out of it" or the always incorrect "I'm in a ditch". I won't even mention circling back on them so that you can have them run into each other head on (oops, I mentioned it). Oh, and dodging the missile from the helicopter. Now I am THAT damn good! (All due respects to Triple H)

And in respects to BWS, I have to strongly disagree. Hot Pursuit 2 is the best of the series by far. I have yet to fully beat it (I hate the cop chase missions, who wants to be a cop?) but I've replayed every other mission on there. That game rocks. If you can't make good crashes then you just gotta have imagination (make them run into the tree shortcut or into the bridge right before, time the jump coming off the wooden bridge to land on top of them (which is cool because you'll keep going as long as they do and they can't catch you), or run them into the tumbleweeds and then wait for them down the road, among others.
