Just wanting to see if there were any fellow players of the L5R CCG or RPG here on these boards... and if so, where do your clan loyalties lay? Dual loyalities are okay.
Personally, Scorpion and Crane here. |

Boy, I feel stupid now for asking this question... yes, it is an old CCG that is still kicking around. L5R is a rather interesting CCG and RPG based around a mythical land based on Feudal Japan with elements of Chinese mythology thrown in for good measure and a nice heap of fantasy to make it interesting. If you like samurai and ninja type games and fiction, Legend of the Five Rings is chalk full of it... so, I was hoping to find some fellow people who were also fans of it... but I guess I am just in the wrong place for that... but hey, who knows. |

Hey! I remember L5R! I'm a big Magic fan/player, and through my eternal quest for knowledge in that, I've come across stuff for L5R in various gaming magazines. At one point I was going to pick some up and give it a try, but there was nobody that I knew who played it, and it was hard enough keeping up with one major CCG. But I will say that it looked pretty damn cool, and now that it seems to have died down (I think...) maybe I'll pick some up for cheap somewhere and give it a shot.
I specifically remember hearing about the company who makes L5R getting sued by the Olympic committee for using the 5 interlocked ring logo, which they claimed was being copied from them, and they forced the company to switch the backs, screwing with the entire card game. And then, I think, they started distributing the cards with card sleeves so you could play with old and new cards. That was a major hit for CCGs everywhere...

Oh course I do. I was an avid Magic player back in the day. Unfortunately due to college and lack of finances, its hard to keep up with like I used to. But I was always reading InQuest, so I was always exposed to pretty much every game out there. Ever hear of this game called Doomtown? I bought a bunch of the cards a while back cuz they were really cheap, and picked it up. But I stopped playing. Today though, I was digging through a box of old cards and came across them, and wanna start up again. I really wanna find some place that sells boxes for like $2-5 so I can pick up new stuff. But at any rate, it was one of the best games I've ever played, and I highly reccomend it if you ever come across it.

By the way....AWESOME PO Khymerion! |

ya, doomtown kicked ass. It was fun, and you could also play normal card games with them, cause they had normal card values at the top (because it was necessary in some cases )
also, nice PO dood...really kicks ass
that is all |
