Camera Recommendations

I'm looking to get a new camera and I've looked and looked, I really want a DSLR but the prices of lenses is prohibitive to me. I've pretty much narrowed it to either the Fujifilm FinePix S9100 or the Canon PowerShot S3 IS. Anyone here have any experience with those, or have another recommendation?

What are you looking for as far as megapixel size? A lot of DSLR's, if not all, are coming with lenses now; so I would actually recommend going that route if it's really what you want and if you want full control of what you're doing (manual focus and the like).

If it's within your price range, I recommend this one. But, ultimately, you'll probably want to save up for this one.

I highly recommend just about anything by Canon, I love my PowerShot A570 and look forward to getting a Rebel in the "near" future.

I can only give my nomination for the DSLR, since i own a Canon Digital rebel....the old 8mp one. I love the damn thing. Although it is a chore to get it just to snap candids since it is a bulky camera. The Powershot would be better for that. I'm sure Rollergirl will chime in here sometime since she just got the XTI a few weeks ago.

I guess it all depends on what you want the camera for.

Candids and quick stuff - Powershot or like camera
More professional stuff and lens options - DSLRs

In case you can't guess, I'm fond of Canon.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canons3is/ is the one I got, I know that DSLR is the optimum, but I looked into some specialty lenses, and they were upwards of 5000, too much to deal with per lens, I know they are the best fidelity, but I dont ever want to have to think about paying that much for a lens.
