Now, I'm not reviving dead threads because this isn't about a specific book. ^_-

I just...am currently obsessed. And I was wondering-- who are your favourite characters? Why?

Personally, I have several and it's difficult to choose just one.

I adore, for example, Lupin. I love everything about his character. He's such an anti-hero, and I always feel so bad for him. I even like movie version, as they kept him completely in character, though I'm still not digging the appearance of David Thewliss as Lupin, but he certainly acted the part beautifully, so I forgive. Mostly. xD I do always bring up the mustache as my huge nitpick for the third movie, though.

And Fred and George. I think probably my favourite part about the two of them is that they keep the books from being too dark. Every time things get a bit too serious, they throw in something from F&G and suddenly I'm rolling in laughter. I'll admit Fred's my favourite of the two, because honestly he's always struck me as the slightly-more-responsible one. I have no idea why, but it's true.

Neville has really grown on me. I, like so many others, didn't think about him much the first bit, but after reading through the series, I've grown incredibly fond of him. He's got so much -character-. He has to be the single most dynamic character in the series. Throughout the books, you really see him growing up. I can only imagine what the seventh book will bring to him.

And Tonks, of course, but who doesn't love Tonks? There's just nothing bad to say about her at all. She's loveable, but has enough faults to make her human (to say the least). Really, she ought to get together with Neville sometime, the two of them could commiserate. And I adore her and Lupin together, though I'll admit when the shippers were messing around with it I hated the idea. The book really pulled it off, though, and I'm impressed.

And lastly, my nods to the minor characters who deserve a bit more. I think Angelina Johnson in particular is fantastic and could use a bit more screen time, and I'd like to know more about Hestia Jones, but that's probably because I once roleplayed as her and had a fantastic time making up an intriguing history between her and Charlie Weasley which might make it into a fanfiction someday.

...oh, all right. I'll give a nod to Snape too. I do think he's an absolutely brilliant character. I don't find him as mysterious or attractive as most girls seem to, but I think he's really dynamic and well thought-out. I am pretty sure I've already got the full measure of him, as to which side he's on, but I'll leave that for another discussion.

And what other thoughts do you have on the series?

I'm thinking of bringing up in class today some thoughts I'd had on the Animagi and whether or not they choose what they turn into.

Another thing that interests me, particularly in light of my part in the Harry Potter Encyclopedia, is -why- J.K. allowed so many things to be changed so much. For instance, leaving out the information about the Marauder's Map in the third movie-- I know a lot of people who were incredibly confused about that because they hadn't read the books, and it wouldn't have taken much to put in.

What do you think?

I quite like Luna (and like Gaaz, think the actress who plays her in the films is really rather good looking, despite her being underage (for a couple of more weeks in the UK anyhow). She's just odd, and makes me smile whenever she's waffling on about something completely random, she also brings a sort of mysterious quality to the stories as you never quite know what shes going to bring to the table, where as its usually predictable what the likes of Harry (always victorious in everything), Ron (pretty much the same person as Harry but doesn't have any luck with anything), Hermione (brainiac who spouts out encyclopedic knowledge like no one else in the world) usually do.
