starter topic here
Bring a gun if you wanna be a hero in the L.-A subways.
Cause even tho they keep surrounding the place with security cams, and banners saying ''WE'RE WATCHING. ARE YOU?'' to encourage people to ''stick together'' it won't help ya when you're alone and you just witnessed an old man being thrown with full force on the subway rails by one .... huge ... hungry ... crack-head'd hobo. Man even if he wasn't on crack, I wouldn't have gone mano-a-mano with the filthy scum.
When I noticed he was on crack I just remembered what a good friend told me one day, from the experience of a friend of his that got his hands full with a crack-head ''Man, in case you get mugged and the guy's on crack, it's like fighting a zombie; if you don't go for the kill - with firepower - don't bother. Hell, make a break for it cause he may end up killing ya as he shatters his fist on your face without knowing/wanting ... and EVEN if you break him with your bare hands ... god knows what crap he just infected ya with''
yeah ... and it took me for ever to get a dude from the security. I found cops first eh, then they told me ''did you tell the security?'' I was shocked, I answered'' WHAT security? want me to talk to a camera? or a propaganda banner maybe?'' good times ... /sarcasm
blarg had to let it out ... |

I find it amazingly stupid that the cops don't want to deal with somebody causing trouble in a subway.
If you can't trust those guys to save a life anymore, what makes me think I'll be even remotely safe in LA now?... |

They definitely don't think twice about running you down to get to a real emergency...a fire engine attempting to go down Roswell road (between 285 and Abernathy) during rush hour. You WILL get out of their way or they will move through you. Either way, you're out of their way. |

there are reasons i am a fan of multi-personal carry and an agressive defense mentality. if you dont stand, others will just watch. |

Worst thing is I took the time to gather info on the crackhead from the moment he threw the guy in the rails, and after ... gah. sadly I should have left the guy in the rails; I mean shit, as soon as I lift him out, he burst-ran to the guy. who was now up the stares, but I didn't pay attention to that, I thought he just burst away from the rails, and I asked his wife wtf just happened, and in the middle of the convo she screamed, I turned around, saw the ''big black dude'' *damn why do I feel like I'm in a COPS episode* pummel the ol man in the stairs.
That's actually there that I considered the dude was probably on crack: 1 punch out of 3 was hitting the concrete stairs hard. and he didn't care or noticed. I couldn't just let him walk away. but couldn't take him on either. So I followed him. he let me follow or ... kept a safe distance or something, the closer I'd get the further he'd go.
gah, that evening was such a waste too. All time on sunset blvd I was telling myself ''this is the shittiest evening in LA ever man I feel like hitting something HARD, I shouldn't have trusted a bunch of ''Ubisoft geeks'' to have fun down here (really, I got nothing against geeks, or them, but THESE dudes sucked at ''being in public'', at least, 2 third of em, out of 9, that's 6. which is enough to crap out an improvised evening in LA when democracy kicks in)
I think I have to thank Suna-chan for all this. I was gonna see her in a few hours from the incident, grabbing a flight from L.A to ATL early on friday morning... to think I could have wasted more then the evening just convinced me to not go mano-a-mano ... cause to be honest ... all that my friend told me about crackheads partly motivated me in taking the guy on.
I just knew I'd be delayed and probably couldn't go see her if 1) I would die. 2) Crackhead would die. Both most favorable and least favorable scenarios led to me not being able to see for a day or two that one girl. Besides, either way, she wouldn't have been proud of me. Even if he would have been the ''right thing'' ... I don't know, I don't think I would have felt proud of myself either, but it's sad NOTHING was done about it by THOSE WHOSE VERY JOB IS TO DO SO.
ol man just wanted to go home, he was suffering from various physical and psychological trauma. he was in no way apt to say whether he wanted to press charge or not. he said to the security ''i jus wanna go home ... honey let's go home ... I wanna go home'' and security let him go, cops vanished after I went to look for them to complete the description I got of the ''mad crackhead on the loose'' they must have had better to do ... /sarcasm. The wife seemed partly shocked and relieved ... but ... no I didn't care anymore, it was probably past 2am, I was tired, had a headache, and I was starting to feel dark regrets for not having taken my chance on busting the crackhead, I had to get to my hotel room that's all that mattered, I had to get at least half an hour of sleep, which I got, before my flight.
What would have been the right thing to do? I feel I didn't do the right thing, I don't know who's right or wrong in there, but I feel I likely didn't do enough; didn't care enough. I feel I've been selfish.. |

You were lucky to make it out of there unscathed yourself.
I would have reported the incident and then just let it stand at that, making the police/security handle it. In some places, you can actually be arrested for trying to help a situation... |
